Network/VPN Outage 10/7
by Steven Schlewitt 07 Oct '20

07 Oct '20

SWAN Member Library Staff - We're currently investigating notices of a widespread network/VPN outage across our libraries. This appears to be part of a larger outage, either with the Microsoft Azure platform which hosts our server environment or with a major internet service provider. As of 12pm, the outage appears to have subsided, lasting only a few minutes. Most libraries have been able to reconnect. If your library is still down, please let us know by emailing help(a)swanlibraries.net<mailto:help@swanlibraries.net>. We'll post any updates or continued outages to the Known Issue<https://support.swanlibraries.net/node/81461> on our support site. Thank you, SWAN Library Services 800 Quail Ridge Drive, Westmont, IL 60559 Email: help(a)swanlibraries.net<mailto:help@swanlibraries.net> Phone: 844-SWANLIB (844-792-6542) https://support.swanlibraries.net<https://support.swanlibraries.net/>

by Dawne Tortorella 16 Sep '20

16 Sep '20

As outlined in Fireside/Poolside meetings through the summer, we are at the point where the vast majority of libraries have returned to resource sharing. For libraries that have enabled resource sharing, this will be extended to non-SWAN reciprocal borrowers starting Thursday, September 17th. See the News Post, Non SWAN Reciprocal Borrowers Resume Holds 09/17/2020<https://support.swanlibraries.net/news/2020-09/81059> for details. Grace Periods Extended - 7 Days (to accommodate quarantine period)
by Dawne Tortorella 16 Sep '20

16 Sep '20

Grace periods have been extended from 0 days to 7 days, and 3 days to 8 days. This change is in effect today, September 16th. Change in grace period fine accrual does not impact fine-free circulation rules. For a complete explanation of this grace period extension, see the news post, Grace Period Update - 7 days<https://support.swanlibraries.net/news/2020-09/81046>. Libraries who have delayed return to pre-COVID circulation rules, due to fine accrual while items are in quarantine, may now consider this grace period extension when determining circulation policies for your library. As always, if you wish to review or change any policies, submit a support ticket and we will walk through your policies and adjust as needed. Additional reminder: Restarting hold notifications are still an opt-in. If you have not yet restarted those notifications and wish to, review your Library Services Status<https://support.swanlibraries.net/members/library-services-status> (see Active Notices column). Update any information through the Status Update & Services Request Form<https://fs8.formsite.com/SWANServices/yzt7btkgmo/index.html?1595018812906>.
