Email Issue with Symphony Server, 7/18-19
by Steven Schlewitt 19 Jul '20

19 Jul '20

SWAN Member Library Staff, Due to an unexpected system error, emails sent from the Symphony/WorkFlows server were not delivered to patrons or staff this Saturday or Sunday. This includes all emailed notices, reports, and receipts. We determined that the issue resulted from a misconfigured service following recent system updates. We have resolved the issue and the server has resumed sending all emails. However, we have been unable to resend emails that should have been delivered to patrons and staff throughout the weekend. We will continue to review options to capture these missed notices into Monday and will provide updates to the Known Issue<https://support.swanlibraries.net/node/77451> as they become available. Thank you, SWAN Library Services 800 Quail Ridge Drive, Westmont, IL 60559 Email: help(a)swanlibraries.net<mailto:help@swanlibraries.net> Phone: 844-SWANLIB (844-792-6542) https://support.swanlibraries.net<https://support.swanlibraries.net/>

EBSCO Access Links
by Robin Hofstetter 15 Jul '20

15 Jul '20

Hello, Last week we sent an email with the attached spreadsheet listing the EBSCO access links. There were several that were not working. All links are working now. There are two important changes to note. If you have already added these links to your website, you'll want to update both of them as the links have changed since last week. Previously, Science Reference Center used the EBSCOhost interface but is now a separate interface. Biography Reference Bank (one of the four available for selection) was formerly named Biography Reference Center, and along with a name change, it moved from a separate interface to the EBSCOhost interface. The patron site is live and searchable. https://swanlibraries.net/articles-databases/databases/ Article Search is also live with new selections. We've scheduled a SWAN EBSCO Statistics Training for October 7, 2020. In this training, we'll go over how to pull and read COUNTER 5 reports. You can find it on L2, and there is no registration necessary. https://www.librarylearning.info/events/?eventID=31660 If you have any questions, please email help(a)swanlibraries.net<mailto:help@swanlibraries.net> Thanks, Robin Robin Hofstetter Consultant, Electronic Resources robin(a)swanlibraries.net<mailto:robin@swanlibraries.net> * 630-326-7823 My pronouns: they/them/theirs SWAN Library Services 800 Quail Ridge Drive, Westmont, IL 60559 swanlibraries.net<https://swanlibraries.net/> * catalog.swanlibraries.net<https://catalog.swanlibraries.net/>

from IHSL: The Library's Illustrate Guide to Pandemic Tub Handling Procedures
by Dawne Tortorella 14 Jul '20

Many have asked for a flowchart to help explain handling of delivery bins and quarantine requirements from RAILS. The Illinois Heartland Library System has developed a flowchart which clearly illustrates procedures. See The Library's Illustrated Guide to Pandemic Tub Handling Procedures<https://illinoisheartland.org/content/article/librarys-illustrated-guide-pa…> - and thank you to our friends at Heartland for sharing this resource! Manage Hold Shelf Wizard replaces Clean Hold Shelf Report
by Dawne Tortorella 13 Jul '20

13 Jul '20

Starting immediately, a new process for managing items on the hold shelf has been implemented. Please see the news post, Manage Hold Shelf Wizard replaces Clean Hold Shelf Report<https://support.swanlibraries.net/news/2020-07/77033> and review the documentation outlined under Manage Hold Shelf Wizard<https://support.swanlibraries.net/news/2020-07/77033> on the SWAN support site. Some libraries have been using this tool for some time as it was introduced with our last Symphony 3.6.2 upgrade in January, 2020. We will be sharing tips and uses at upcoming Circulation Advisory and Circulation Users meetings. EBSCO Access Links
by Robin Hofstetter 10 Jul '20

10 Jul '20

Hello, Attached is a spreadsheet with the EBSCO links for those you selected for the EBSCO group purchase. You can find your library by scrolling across the tabs at the bottom. There are a handful of links that are not working yet. We've highlighted those in yellow. We are working with EBSCO to get these fixed and will let you know as soon as they are working. We've tested all of these remotely through Open Athens authentication. Inside the library, they should go directly to the database. If they are not, then please send a list of your library IP ranges in a help ticket to help(a)swanlibraries.net<mailto:help@swanlibraries.net>. We will need to confirm we have the correct IPs on file with EBSCO. We've also created a SWAN Patron Site. You can copy and paste the access links from there as well. This page isn't live yet because we want to confirm that all links are working before we enable it. You can find your library page by going to this link and inserting your three-letter library code in the highlighted space. https://swanlibraries.net/lib/xxx If you weren't able to attend the Group Purchase Meeting we had on Wednesday, you can find the recording on the Support Site. Here's the link. https://support.swanlibraries.net/tutorial/76697 If you have any questions, please email help(a)swanlibraries.net<mailto:help@swanlibraries.net> rather than emailing me directly. I'm happy to answer your questions!
