Good afternoon SWAN membership -
In order to better serve our members and patrons, the SWAN Bibliographic Services team and the Cataloging Advisory Group have been working on a new set of guidelines for Blu-ray/DVD combo packs. The guidelines are similar to their previous version with some changes made to help our members better distinguish between combo pack records and records for their component parts, provide better visibility and transparency for our patrons, and improve bibliographic record matching based on UPC.
Please read the updated support site document: Combo Packs<https://support.swanlibraries.net/documentation/64629>.
Note the section about the new 590 term "COMBO PACK". Its behavior in Enterprise is detailed in the 590 Field: SWAN Format<https://support.swanlibraries.net/documentation/64634> document. SWAN has spoken to Midwest Tape, and they are implementing a change to all SWAN library profiles to include the new term on combo pack bibliographic records. Other vendors may require individual action by libraries.
SWAN is planning a cleanup of existing records to reflect the new standards. Libraries are not responsible for performing this cleanup, but Cataloging Libraries should feel free to update existing records if preferred.
Thank you, and please submit a ticket if you have any questions.

Hello SWAN Members,
The Westmont Public Library has begun their renovation. During this time various collections will be unavailable, in order to avoid any delays in filling holds their entire collection is now non-holdable. They anticipate the renovation to continue through October 25, 2019. We will send another SWANcom once they notify us they have completed their project and their collection is once again holdable.

Hello SWAN Libraries,
The September quarterly meeting recording is posted online:

The presentation in PowerPoint format is also uploaded and available to everyone via our SWAN Support site, Meetings & Documents section.

Lastly, at the meeting we mentioned some completed usability studies with library patrons, which have touched on hold queue displays. Those studies began with SWAN working with the company Merge Design + Interactive in 2017, which we have continued on our own within the SWAN User Experience department and our Discovery & User Experience Advisory Group (DUX) for 2018-2019. The 3-part Merge study of Enterprise, along with our own studies are available here:
