Outages relating to Symphony Web Services and Enterprise have been resolved - all services are now back online. We also do not expect any further outages today. Announcing SWAN Spring Forward workshops for Circulation Support Staff

SWAN Member Services is pleased to announce a new training opportunity for Circulation Support Staff. Topics being discussed include: User Registration, Holds, Notices, and Billing. There are seven training opportunities available for attendees to choose from including ---for the first time ever-- training in the evening (specifically 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM). In addition to the RAILS Meeting Room, classes will be offered at Frankfort PLD and Eisenhower PLD. Registration is now open<http://www.librarylearning.info/tags/?Spring+Forward>. SMS text messages test ok

After extensive testing yesterday and today by SWAN Member Services, we are happy to report that all carriers are forwarding SMS text messages to their users. We have tested messages to: AT&T, Republic, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Virgin Mobile phones. All of these messages were delivered. If anyone is still encountering a problem, please let us know. Text messaging

Everyone - I regret to inform everyone but the "Throttling Fix" that was scheduled for last Thursday was not fully implemented by SirsiDynix. SirsiDynix has advised us that they will be implementing the "Throttling Fix" sometime this week. We will let everyone know as soon as we are advised the "Fix" is completed. In addition, SirsiDynix is still pursuing a new vendor to process text messages. The "Fix" is just a temporary measure to help alleviate the problem. Another twist was identified today by SWAN staff in testing - it appears that only Verizon customers are actually receiving text messages. We have tested sending Manual Messages via SMS text to several staff members and anyone with Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Virgin carriers did not receive their text message. This situation has been reported to SirsiDynix and a ticket opened in their support center. As we receive more information on this newly identified problem, we will let you know via SWANcom. SWAN Staff Announcement & Positions Posted

SWAN Member Libraries: The news I have for you today is that SWAN's Bibliographic Services Manager Karen Bar is leaving SWAN for a new life in the Florida Keys. I think that we can all agree Karen has earned this relocation through her tireless efforts in leading us through the consortia software migration. SWAN will begin its search for our next manager starting today as we still have a few months before Karen finally relocates. We do not have a final date yet set for Karen as she has offered SWAN some flexibility so we can find a new replacement. In addition to this position opening at SWAN, I wanted to highlight another opening for a full-time cataloging position within SWAN. This is an entirely new position I wanted to make sure to note this for SWAN libraries. Both positions are listed below.
