SWAN Directors & Administrators-
The meeting agenda and packet for the January 12 10am - 12 noon is now posted. This meeting will review the upcoming renewal of the EBSCO database group-purchase. The packet contains two documents outlining the renewal options, and a second document showing the database usage overall for the 92 public libraries.

The SWAN Board decided to hold this meeting to review the EBSCO year-2 renewal. We announced the date of the Committee of the Whole Meeting after its regular December meeting via the December 22nd SWAN newsletter.
As noted at the December 3rd Quarterly meeting and within the SWAN Community Directors Forum, some library directors have expressed a year-2 renewal of the EBSCO group purchase with the option for libraries to opt-out. The meeting packet documents outline what that option means for the shared group purchase cost. This will be a membership decision with a vote, as it was last year in March.
For those that wish to attend, this meeting will be hosted online via the SWAN GoToWebinar platform. You will need to register in advance:

This meeting will be recorded and posted for those unable to attend. I would also encourage use of the Directors Forum under the topic started about EBSCO Group Purchase: https://forums.swanlibraries.net/

SWAN Member Library Staff:
GMAIL service outages affected email bounces from Monday, 12/14 through Wednesday, 12/16. Those bounces should be ignored and have been resolved in our email system, so they will not repeat and patrons with those addresses will continue to receive notices as expected.
Bounces from Thursday, 12/17 and on should be considered legitimate bounces and should be handled normally.
Should there be any news on this matter, we will update the Known Issue<https://support.swanlibraries.net/node/84182> accordingly.
Thank you,

Subject: [SWANcom] Google outage leading to bounced emails
SWAN Member Library Staff:
Google experienced a global outage yesterday during the time that email notifications were being sent by SWAN. Due to this, you may see an unusual number of bounces from gmail addresses. This does not mean the patron's email addresses are invalid, you should leave them in place in the patron's record.
You may want to suggest that your patron check their accounts in Enterprise or the SWAN mobile app for the status if their items.
