SWAN Member Library Staff:
Just a quick reminder for today’s benchmark survey between 10am-12pm. Please see the post below for the important details.
We encourage everyone with access to WorkFlows to participate, and please remember – the survey tasks must be performed on the SWAN test server at sdtest.in.swanlibraries.net
Thank you.

SWAN Server Environment Benchmark Survey on Thursday, Dec 13th from 10am-12pm

SWAN Member Library Staff:
With the SWAN server infrastructure migration<https://support.swanlibraries.net/news/2018-12-05/swan-server-migration-sun…> just around the corner, one of the last boxes to tick in our pre-flight checklist is a membership-wide benchmark of the new server. That being the case, next week we’ll be holding a server benchmark survey on Thursday, December 13th from 10am to 12pm.
The survey itself consists of a series of simple WorkFlows tasks that staff will need to complete and questions about the experience. It will likely take staff no longer than 10 minutes to complete, and while tasks in this survey are more circulation-focused, we encourage all library staff to participate and submit their own surveys. Additionally, while this survey is not mandatory, we would urge every library to have at least one staff member run through the tasks and submit the survey to ensure their library has the necessary network access to our new server environment. Additionally, we hope to have as many simultaneous users on the test server possible to ensure a high-volume system benchmark.
To participate in the benchmark survey:
1. Anytime between 10am and 12pm on Thursday, open the FormSite<https://fs8.formsite.com/SWANServices/gpuetz1u0h/index.html> survey.
2. As instructed in the survey, open WorkFlows and login to the SWAN test server at sdtest.in.swanlibraries.net
3. Follow the four subsequent survey tasks and note your results.
4. Submit your survey.
5. Close/reopen WorkFlows and log back in to the SWAN production server (as you normally would) at api.in.swanlibraries.net
Please note that SWAN staff will not be replying to these surveys, but we may reach out to you if further investigation of a response is needed.
If you have any questions about the survey or encounter any issues, please send us a ticket at help(a)swanlibraries.net<mailto:help@swanlibraries.net>.
Thank you.

The Messenger Public Library of North Aurora will be open from 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM today, Thursday, 12/13 due to no water in the facility. Repairs are underway.
SWAN Libraries,
We will be extracting the patron records for the NCOA cleanup tonight at 11:30pm-any patron records created after 11:30pm will not be included in the NCOA update process, so you may continue adding new patron records as normal. The update process will be matching the returned NCOA address information to barcodes included in the data extract. Additionally, overwritten "old" address information will be included in a note field within the patron record.
As a reminder, the partial patron freeze will begin at 11:30pm tonight and the following fields in the Addresses tab should not be edited until an all-clear is given:
* STREET
* CITY
* STATE
* ZIP

SWAN Libraries,
The National Change of Address (NCOA) Patron Database Cleanup project will begin end of day tomorrow, Wednesday, December 12, 2018. UMS will process our patron records through the USPS NCOA database and return them to us for processing on Friday afternoon. The bulk of the work will be completed Saturday night, though we will continue updating patron formatting into next week.
Beginning Thursday, there will be a freeze on updating the following fields in the Addresses tab:
* STREET
* CITY
* STATE
* ZIP
Any changes made to these fields between Wednesday night and Saturday morning will be overwritten when the records are processed. Please keep a list of any changes to these fields that are requested by the patron during this period of processing. Updates can then be entered when the freeze is lifted.
Please note, only records that have a User Category Type of PATRON or blank will be included. Records with the following User Profiles will be excluded from the update:
* Generic Users
* CHICAGO_P
* NONSWAN_RB
* Special and Academic library patrons
* School-Use Only
* GED_MOVED

SWAN Libraries,
The updated SWAN Support Site is now fully live! Thank you for all of your help testing and providing valuable feedback over the last six months-we couldn't have done it without you. Big thanks to Brian Smith at RAILS for his work setting up the new site and working with us to update features and troubleshoot functionality issues. And of course, thanks to all SWAN staff, who worked tirelessly to rewrite hundreds of pages of documentation to get the new site up and running.
Some things to keep in mind and to check out on the new site if you haven't already done so:
* As with the old site, log in with your L2 credentials at https://support.swanlibraries.net/
* Try out the new and improved search box
* Check out the Quick Library Lookup on the homepage as well as the Patron Lookup Tool
Please let us know if you experience any issues by sending a ticket to the Help Desk.
