SWAN Member Library Staff:
As a reminder, our Symphony Production server will be upgraded to 4.1 this evening.
During the upgrade, My Account features, SIP2/WebServices, and other related systems will be unavailable.
Our upgrade is scheduled to begin shortly after 11PM and will conclude early morning Tuesday, June 18. While we do not anticipate the required use of Offline Mode or downtime during business hours, please wait for the 'All Clear' SWANcom to arrive tomorrow morning before accessing WorkFlows.
The WorkFlows 4.1 client installer has been made available on the SWAN Support Site<https://support.swanlibraries.net/documentation/64760>. Once your staff workstations have been updated, please have your library submit the 4.1 Installation Survey<https://fs8.formsite.com/SWANServices/xrjnthywxm/index> (one submission per library, please!)
For updates and more information on Symphony 4.1 features and updates, follow our news post<https://support.swanlibraries.net/news/2024-06/94643>.
Any questions or concerns? Please open a support ticket<mailto:help@swanlibraries.net> and a member of the support team will be in touch.

Hello Member libraries -
We are writing to inform you all that unfortunately we did not get the number of libraries necessary to make the SWAN all-inclusive package work. Instead, we're moving forward with the RAILS EBSCO Flagship package or individual databases if your library prefers.
The RAILS EBSCO Flagship Package includes ConsumerReports.org, NoveList Plus / NoveList K-8 Plus, and your choice of 6 additional databases. Pricing for the Flagship package is based on your library service population and can be found on the RAILS Deals & Discounts page (must be signed in to view): https://railslibraries.org/deals/112669
Individual databases are priced on that same page under your library service population group. If you plan to purchase individual databases, please fill out our 2024 EBSCO Deal Opt In form. EBSCO is referring all library calls about individual database purchases to them back to SWAN.
Here is the link to the form: https://support.swanlibraries.net/form/80756
We are collecting selections for the Flagship and individual databases up until Thursday, June 20 end of day. If you have already made your choices, no need to resubmit the form. You can review your submissions here: https://support.swanlibraries.net/form/80756/submissions.
If you have questions or concerns about what you have selected, please email help(a)swanlibraries.net<mailto:help@swanlibraries.net>.
Remember, the Flagship package and individual databases are extra databases that your library is paying for and are meant to complement the statewide database deal. Everyone in Illinois is getting the resources in the statewide deal at no additional charge.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out and/or completed the form last week! Your support speaks volumes!

Hello Member libraries -
This is a reminder that our new EBSCO selection form is live and should be complete by end of day Friday, June 14.
The previous selection form, Package B, which was available between April and May 2024 is no longer applicable. All previously submitted data has been disregarded. That package no longer exists. With the statewide deal becoming available sooner than previously anticipated, it is imperative to let SWAN know how you will proceed with your database offerings.
If this is the first time you are hearing this, please review our webinar slides from Tuesday, June 11 below:
https://support.swanlibraries.net/system/files/Members/2024-06/SWAN-EBSCO-F…
There was also a recording of that webinar available at the Zoom link below:
https://swanlibraries-net.zoom.us/rec/share/ke-6ZovtK-K7R75g-xcFD_hfLayTRCA…
Pricing and the EBSCO selection form is available on our SWAN News page:
https://support.swanlibraries.net/news/2024-06/94640
To see where other SWAN member libraries are in the opt-in, opt-out phase, please see our results page:
https://support.swanlibraries.net/form/80756/submissions
Pricing and information above are for public libraries in SWAN only. We have yet to hear from about half of the members. Please note that if we do not get enough participants in the SWAN all-inclusive package, that it may no longer be an option. Please select a backup package or indicate that you want nothing at all.
Everyone is getting the resources in the statewide package. These new options exist to complement your library's database content and to ensure that Consumer Reports and NoveList Plus are not lost.
If you have any questions, please contact help(a)swanlibraries.net<mailto:help@swanlibraries.net>.

Subject: ACTION REQUIRED: SWAN pricing for EBSCO all-inclusive package now posted & EBSCO selection form is live
To SWAN member public libraries-
Last week at the SWAN Quarterly meeting we met to discuss the Illinois State Library e-Resource Program and its selection of EBSCO to be the provider of research databases for all libraries in Illinois.
Pricing
We now have pricing for the SWAN all-inclusive package posted for you. It has a high and low estimate for the deal, which is a price range at this point since we do not know how many libraries wish to participate in our new EBSCO all-inclusive deal.
SWAN Support page with pricing and details (login required): https://support.swanlibraries.net/documentation/70949
Opt-in online form: deadline is Friday, June 14th end of business day
This will notify SWAN if your library is going to want the SWAN all-inclusive package or databases through the RAILS negotiated deal with EBSCO. SWAN is acting as the go-between for the RAILS deal if your libraries decide that is the choice. One submission per library please.
Form link (login required): https://support.swanlibraries.net/form/80756
We have a short window to decide. This is due to RAILS setting a Friday, June 14th deadline for its package.
SWAN Webinar Tuesday, June 11th at 2:30 p.m.
We have a scheduled webinar for you that will take place via Zoom on Tuesday, June 11th at 2:30 p.m. We will review the SWAN EBSCO deal and explain the options for your library.
Zoom link: https://swanlibraries-net.zoom.us/j/84817631486?pwd=HBLzTzSmngiZUuWSaAipJMa…

SWAN Member Libraries & Information Technology Staff:
The SWAN WorkFlows 4.1 installer is now available on the SWAN support site: https://support.swanlibraries.net/news/2024-06/94639
Please be advised, there is no imperative to install this new client before our scheduled Symphony 4.1 server upgrade on the evening of Monday, June 17th.
Upgrading early will result in a client/server mismatch message each time the client connects prior to the morning of Tuesday, June 18th.
WorkFlows 3.7.1 will continue to function after the server upgrade has been completed, but will also result in a client/server mismatch message until the client is upgraded.
If you have any questions or require further assistance please submit a ticket by emailing help(a)swanlibraries.net<mailto:help@swanlibraries.net>.

Hello SWAN library directors & administrators-
The agenda and meeting packet for next week's meeting Thursday, June 6th at Oak Brook Public Library is now posted.
https://support.swanlibraries.net/meeting/94449
Our big discussion topic for Thursday will be the yet to be announced statewide contract for research databases. SWAN has learned the contact has been awarded to EBSCO, but there are some differences with the statewide solution and our existing group-purchase for public libraries. We have a few options to present for SWAN libraries that are concerned about retaining a comprehensive database package, which would include Novelist Plus and Consumer Reports which are not in the statewide deal.
We will also present about public library website ADA complaints and how this relates to SWAN's Aspen Discovery.
Hope to see you in person next week! If you need to attend via Zoom, please registration using the link below.
