Illinois State Library Proposed Rules to the Library System Act: Library Director Comment Encouraged

SWAN Library Directors & Administrators: Forgive me for any cross-posting. The Illinois State Library is proposing rules changes to the Library System Act, and there is currently a public comment process available online. Refer to this URL: http://illibrarysystemstandards.wordpress.com/multitype-library-system-admi… If you have not taken a look at the proposed changes, I would encourage you to do so and to also read the comments that many of your colleagues have already left. There are some significant changes being proposed, and they are worthy of your time. This public comment phase ends on Monday, August 18th. My understanding of the next steps are as follows: 1. The draft rules changes (with possible changes based on the public comment period included) will be presented to the Illinois State Library Advisory Committee (ISLAC) in September. After the committee's approval, it will go to the General Assembly's Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR). The RAILS comments in the document are very insightful and provide a detailed analysis of the proposed changes. My apologies again for any cross-posting of information. It will be inclusive of approximately 90% of the library; involving the circulation, youth, adult and staff departments. more details Dates of Closure: August 7 -September 13, 2014 Last day open to the public before project begins: Wednesday, August 6 - 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. First day open to the public after project ends: Monday, September 15 - 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. During this time: .
