by Kate Boyle 18 Dec '15

18 Dec '15

On the Ninth Day of (insert your favorite holiday) ----SWAN elves gave to me [cid:image002.jpg@01D1396E.AB6761C0] Whether you celebrate Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, Festivus, the Winter Solstice, or none of the above - SWAN would like to share 12 days of "gifts" with you. Gift #9 --- Have you ever thought when searching for a patron "it would be so helpful if I could see the birthdate of this patron"? This can easily be accomplished --just open a ticket at help(a)swanlibraries.net<mailto:help@swanlibraries.net> and request that the Birthdate column be enabled in the User Search Helper. This additional column when searching is not only a time saver, but a way to accurately retrieve the correct user record. The birthdate column will be visible in "Display User", "Modify User", "User Registration" and "Copy User". This can be of great assistance when you are searching a common name. SWAN Membership: I am sad to announce Rebecca Malinowski is leaving SWAN. I am happy to say she is moving to another library consortium! She will be joining CCS as their new Member Services Manager. Her last day will be Thursday, January 21. Suffice to say with everything underway with post-migration projects and two new libraries joining us, we will work to fill the SWAN Special Projects Coordinator position as quickly as possible. This position is currently posted in the RAILS Jobs website: https://www.railslibraries.info/jobs/106408 Application deadline is January 15, 2016. by Kate Boyle 16 Dec '15

16 Dec '15

On the Seventh Day of (insert your favorite holiday) ----SWAN elves gave to me [cid:image001.png@01D137DC.4E554940] Whether you celebrate Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, Festivus, the Winter Solstice, or none of the above - SWAN would like to share 12 days of "gifts" with you. Gift #7 ---Opt out of photo and sig display - SWAN has had a request from one of our libraries to turn off the display of patron signatures and photos in a patron record. This is something that can be setup by library, so we thought we should offer it to everyone. If your library does not use photos or digital signatures and is interested in turning either display off, please open a ticket. SWAN will be happy to oblige. Tonight between 9pm-10pm, we plan on migrating our Symphony Web Services to the latest version, with hopes that this will resolve ongoing E-Commerce issues and improve other various functions within Enterprise. While an hour of downtime is scheduled, we're hoping the actual downtime will be less than 10 minutes. Tonight's downtime will affect the following services... - Enterprise My Account functions - Enterprise library item availability - Enterprise payments - BookMyne - MobileCirc During the downtime, Enterprise will remain online and items will be searchable. Additionally, Symphony WorkFlows will be unaffected by this downtime. A banner will be displayed on the Enterprise homepages to alert patrons of the outage. Additional updates will be sent tonight via SWANcom. Thank you for your patience. On the Sixth Day of (insert your favorite holiday) ----SWAN elves gave to me [cid:image002.jpg@01D13716.B44A2020] Whether you celebrate Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, Festivus, the Winter Solstice, or none of the above - SWAN would like to share 12 days of "gifts" with you. Gift #6 --- Spanish and Polish Language Notices --- We are pleased to announce that on Feb. 1st, SWAN will begin sending Notices in Spanish and Polish. Receiving notices in foreign languages is based upon your patron supplying a language preference in their Workflows user record. To update a user record, bring up the record in "Modify User". On the Demographics tab, choose the correct preferred language from the dropdown. If you need a language that isn't listed in the dropdown, please open a ticket. Please note: This feature is different from the Default Language in "My Account" in Enterprise, that language option refers to the catalog interface default language. Happy Holidays!
