*Important* (Reminder) Upcoming ILS Upgrade to Symphony 3.5.1.1 on 7/11

SWAN Member Library Staff: Just a reminder – this evening, we’ll be upgrading to the newest Symphony WorkFlows version, 3.5.1.1. Tomorrow morning, upon initial login to WorkFlows, you will likely be prompted with the following pop-ups… [cid:image005.jpg@01D1DB94.047B0970] Or [cid:image006.jpg@01D1DB94.047B0970] Please do not click “Yes” for the automatic update. You’ll need to install the latest SWAN WorkFlows version available at the SWAN support site at the link below. The SWAN MSI package provided will uninstall your previous version and install the latest with additional SWAN features included. https://support.swanlibraries.net/content/software-downloads (L2 login required) Your current version of WorkFlows (3.5.0) will continue to work as expected; however, you will need to install the new SWAN WorkFlows 3.5.1.1 package sometime within the next month and submit a Formsite survey for your library to complete the upgrade process. The deadline for the upgrade is August 12th. This upgrade will require intermittent downtime throughout the overnight hours, and the Enterprise OPAC My Account functions will also be inaccessible during this time. A banner will be posted to the Enterprise homepage to notify patrons. Similarly to past ILS server upgrades, a new WorkFlows client will be required to take advantage of the new features and bug fixes; however, this client upgrade is not required until AFTER the server upgrade has been completed on 7/12. Following the upgrade and go-live on 7/12, your current 3.5.0 WorkFlows client will continue to function as expected - you simply will not have access to the new features and bug fixes. That being the case, there is no rush to complete the installation immediately afterward. SWAN will not be requiring client upgrades until after we’re live on 3.5.1.1 on 7/12, and libraries will have up to one month to complete the upgrade and submit a FormSite completion survey, which will be provided with the download link and documentation. Important Notes: Please do not click the “Update now” options prompted from the WorkFlows client after go-live. - SWAN utilizes a customized setup MSI that incorporates additional features and functions. This setup MSI will also uninstall previous versions of WorkFlows automatically. One day prior to go-live, SWAN will release the new documentation and MSI via the support site at https://support.swanlibraries.net/content/software-downloads. We request that you install this client after we’re live on 3.5.1.1 on 7/12, but no later than 8/12. - Early installation of the 3.5.1.1 MSI will not cause issues, although users will be prompted to downgrade their WorkFlows version when attempting to access our Production server (which is not necessary – this prompt can be ignored and they can still access the Production server). - If you do happen to click the "Update now" button, you may need to uninstall/reinstall your WorkFlows client later on for access to specific SWAN features. A few specific advantages to the new Symphony 3.5.1.1 version include the following: - Inventory Item Wizard no longer incorrectly updates the Last Activity Date of an item - Signature pads now support additional languages, including Spanish and Polish, based on the patron’s set language preference - WorkFlows client runs on an updated Java JRE, improving security and reliability of the application - WorkFlows toolbars have additional font and icon sizing settings for better visibility If you have any questions about the upgrade or encounter issues, please contact SWAN Support at 630.734.5153, or submit a ticket via email through help(a)swanlibraries.net<mailto:help@swanlibraries.net>. SirsiDynix has fixed the problem with transaction statistics and the June stats are now available on the support site: https://support.swanlibraries.net/content/2016-sirsidynix-stats As always the daily stats will come later. Checkouts, Renewals, and hold statistics for June

Everyone - We are in the process of posting Checkouts, Renewals, and Hold statistics to the SWAN website for the month of June. https://support.swanlibraries.net/content/2016-sirsidynix-stats I generated these very basic reports in BC Analytics in order to give you something to show your boards. Unfortunately, I can't generate them by interface. I'll try again tomorrow. We are still awaiting news on the case we have opened with SirsiDynix regarding the problem with our statistical reports this month. When we hear something you will be the first to know. SWAN Member Library Staff: Just FYI – our SirsiDynix-hosted Enterprise server did encounter a very brief service disruption this afternoon. Fortunately, it was short enough that it went largely unnoticed (likely only seconds of downtime). SirsiDynix has informed us that no further disruptions should be expected today.
