SWAN Member Library Staff:
To accommodate a growing demand for vendor integration through Symphony Web Services, SWAN will be working with SirsiDynix to perform an upgrade of the current Symphony Web Services platform. We'll be moving from version 2015.10 to 2016.08.1, which will allow vendors like Communico and Novelist to integrate with our data over an online web connection, as opposed to a more traditional SIP2 connection.
We've scheduled the upgrade with SirsiDynix for tomorrow morning (December 20th) at 7AM. This upgrade will require a brief interruption of Web Services. We are not anticipating the installation exceeding two hours. During the downtime, the services below will be impacted...
- All Symphony Web Services/Enterprise OPAC functions
* Enterprise My Account functions (including payments)
* Enterprise material availability
* BookMyne
* MobileCirc (will only work in Offline Mode)
* EDS & ERC
Please note that Symphony WorkFlows and SIP2 will not be affected by this outage. All SIP2 devices can remain connected, SIP2 vendors (like ebook vendors) will continue to communicate, and WorkFlows Offline Mode will not be required for this outage. Notice has been posted to the Enterprise OPAC homepages to inform patrons of the outage.

Regarding the Circulation Lost in Transit Report:
If you do not find items on your list, please leave them "in transit" as we are still working with RAILS staff to determine why our "in transit" item counts are so high.
Regarding BLUEcloud Analytics:
When you log into BLUEcloud Analytics, you will first see two folders:

Please choose the BCA SWANLIBS folder. This is the folder that contains all of the canned SWAN Reports in addition to the reports delivered by SirsiDynix. The other folder was created by SirsiDynix in anticipation of the new BLUEcloud Analytics release, but it is not yet functional.

SirsiDynix Support appears to have resolved the intermittent issue causing Enterprise outages this afternoon. We're still waiting for additional information on what caused the issue, exactly, but Enterprise should be stable moving forward this evening.

In this morning's SWAN E-News, we included an update on the move to our new office space. I thought I would notify you all via SWANcom in addition to that newsletter. We are moving on Friday this week.
The SWAN staff contact information is changing, which includes email addresses and phone numbers. It is important to note that the old phone numbers RAILS provided us will discontinue forwarding before the month is out. That was not our decision. The phone numbers when called will play a voicemail message notifying the caller of the new contact number and the new email address and then hang up. Once we know that the forwarding has stopped, we will again notify you all. But we want you to update all of your contacts before that happens.

For those of you wondering where our meetings will be located, the answer is "it depends." Many of them will remain scheduled in RAILS Burr Ridge (like BLUEcloud Analytics training). Others, like the SWAN Board meeting, will be held at the new office location. We will continue to use the L2 event system for all of our events. But when in doubt, just ask us!
We have some 2017 calendar strips that will be made available soon. Those will have our new 844-SWANLIB and support contacts.

It has been discovered that a notice configuration setting is inadvertently preventing some patron checkouts from progressing through the standard overdue and billing process. The number of affected records is relatively few. Nevertheless, higher than normal bill-notice volumes are anticipated tomorrow after the change takes effect tonight. Patrons receiving these notices may remark on the delay in delivery; however, the change should permanently solve the issue going forward and it should not happen again.
