SWAN Quarterly meeting 3/2/23 agenda & packet posted

Hello SWAN library directors & administrators- The agenda and meeting packet for this Thursday, March 2nd membership meeting is posted for you. The meeting will be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person, however, the approval vote must be conducted in-person. EBSCO database group-purchase subscription year-4 renewal details

Hello member library directors, administrators, e-content specialists: The pricing for the SWAN group-purchase of EBSCO subscription database package was presented at the Committee of the Whole membership meeting last week on February 7th. That pricing is included in the meeting packet, and I have pulled out that pricing which is linked directly to the news post below which has all the details. https://support.swanlibraries.net/news/2023-02/94116 Any public library participating currently will automatically be included in the year-4 renewal. If you would like your library to withdraw from the group purchase arrangement, please submit your library's opt-out by February 24th, end of the day. The link to withdraw is in the news post above. **CRITICAL** 1/30 - Symphony Reindexing - Cataloging Freeze

SWAN Member Libraries, Cataloging, and Acquisitions Staff: Over the weekend, we encountered several errors within our overnight processing reports. Malformed records caused our ADUText report to fail, resulting in the removal of approximately 430,000 records from our indexes. These records need to be reindexed before they're fully searchable. We have temporarily increased our maximum concurrent reports to allow us to rebuild the index without significantly impacting our daily report schedule. You may experience slower than normal searching throughout the reindexing process. Affected items are not retrievable by title or ISBN. They may still be retrieved by using a Title Control Number browse search. While the reindexing is running, we are implementing a partial acquisitions and cataloging freeze. You may continue to: * Edit any record that is fully searchable * Add, edit, or discard items * Run cataloging overlay reports that match on Title Control Number Please refrain from: * Running acquisitions and cataloging load reports that match on ISBN or UPC * Adding new bibliographic records We will continue to update the Known Issue<https://support.swanlibraries.net/issue/94068> as we have more information. Once we have verified that the reindexing has concluded successfully and verified database integrity, we will notify via SWANcom that the partial cataloging freeze has been lifted. Monday 1/30 - Record indexing issues still occurring

SWAN Member Libraries & Cataloging Staff: Over the weekend, our ADUText report, which handles our daily record maintenance and processing, terminated abnormally. We worked with SirsDynix to resolve the issue and although we made good progress, it appears we are still experiencing issues today.
