Charge/Checkout Wizard Stress Test
by Vickie Totton 03 Aug '17

03 Aug '17

+++Please route to appropriate staff+++ There is a setting in WorkFlows that will allow staff to see any existing checkouts, holds, and/or bills a patron may have when you view their account in the Charge/Checkout wizard. We will be turning this setting on for SWAN Tuesday, August 8 as a stress test. If you start to experience issues with WorkFlows Tuesday, please let us know so we can turn the setting off. The change will require a halt and run but that can be done rather quickly. When we first went live on Symphony, SirsiDynix told us this setting was meant to be used by standalone libraries and would most likely cause huge delays for us due to our size. As LINC and MAGIC both use this setting without any impact to Workflows (and they are not standalones), we want to try implementing this expanded display to see if the size of the SWAN database will slow down our instance of WorkFlows. by Steven Schlewitt 01 Aug '17

01 Aug '17

SWAN Member Library Staff: Tonight's Enterprise server migration has been postponed for the moment, so no downtime is anticipated. We expect to have a new date for the migration firmed up by the end of this week, and we'll send an additional SWANcom as soon as it has been determined. Thank you, Steven Schlewitt Information Technology Manager steven(a)swanlibraries.net<mailto:steven@swanlibraries.net> * 630-326-5993 SWAN Library Services 800 Quail Ridge Drive, Westmont, IL 60559 swanlibraries.net<https://www.swanlibraries.net/> * catalog.swanlibraries.net<https://catalog.swanlibraries.net/> From: swancom-bounces(a)list.swanlibraries.net [mailto:swancom-bounces@list.swanlibraries.net] On Behalf Of Aaron Skog Sent: Saturday, July 29, 2017 4:02 PM To: swancom(a)list.swanlibraries.net Subject: [SWANcom] SWAN Enterprise Issues: Update SWAN Libraries, This is just a quick heads up. In our efforts to resolve some recent Enterprise issues, SirsiDynix is recommending an upgrade to the underlying server running Enterprise. This will result in more server resources supporting our system, but it will require some planned downtime starting at 11:59PM on Tuesday, August 1 next week. We will send out another SWANcom email on Monday, with a reminder on Tuesday. The length of downtime is estimated to be 4-6 hours. Thank you for your patience-SirsiDynix software engineers and the SaaS team have been studying our issues and recommend this first step. For background, please read the following two SWAN Support postings: Update on 7/10 https://support.swanlibraries.net/news/2017-07-10/recent-enterprise-symphon… Outage on 7/8 https://support.swanlibraries.net/news/2017-07-11/resolved-symphony-server-… Aaron Skog Executive Director aaron(a)swanlibraries.net<mailto:aaron@swanlibraries.net> * (630)326-7022 SWAN Library Services 800 Quail Ridge Drive, Westmont, IL 60559 844-792-6542 swanlibraries.net<https://www.swanlibraries.net/> * catalog.swanlibraries.net<https://catalog.swanlibraries.net/>

Missing Items on Hold Shelf Generic User.
by Crystal Vela 31 Jul '17

31 Jul '17

++ Please route to appropriate Circulation staff ++ It was brought to our attention that there are times when an item that is on your Clean Hold Shelf Report cannot be found on the hold shelf. To ensure that these items are accounted for and not showing a location of InTransit when they are missing, follow the attached procedure. Please note that you should only check an item out to this user MISSHLDSHLF if it was on your Clean Hold Shelf report, and you have looked for the item thoroughly and checked with the patron to ensure he/she doesn't not have it in their possession.
