In Transit Shelf Check Reports
by Vickie Totton 21 Dec '17

21 Dec '17

As per the MISSTRNSIT update that went out yesterday some of the items that were in transit were not checked out to the MISSTRNSIT user. Here are the (much smaller) weekly Shelf Check reports. If you do not see a tab at the bottom with your library code on it, you do not have anything to look for. Have a wonderful holiday weekend! 12 Days of Gifts -- day 12
by Vickie Totton 21 Dec '17

21 Dec '17

On the Twelfth Day of (insert your favorite holiday) ----SWAN elves gave to me [cid:image001.jpg@01D37A45.2428C4A0] Whether you celebrate Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, Festivus, the Winter Solstice, or none of the above - SWAN would like to share 12 days of "gifts" with you. The long-awaited ability to remove long overdue items is finally here! We have worked with SirsiDynix on a custom procedure for this feature. Once an item is 1 year overdue the new procedure will: * Disconnect the checkout * Remove the LOST_ASSUM bill * Remove the PROCESSFEE bill * Create a LONGODUE bill * Create a PROCESSFEEX bill * DISCARD your item At this time, we are only running this for local transactions (your patron, your item) on a library by library basis. If you would like to be one of the first libraries we process, please open a ticket by sending an email to help(a)swanlibraries.net<mailto:help@swanlibraries.net> or logging in to the Help Desk from the SWAN support site, https://support.swanlibraries.net. **UPDATE** Items checked out to MISSTRNSIT
by Vickie Totton 20 Dec '17

20 Dec '17

Many of you have most likely seen much larger On Shelf Items with Holds reports today. You are seeing this because patron holds were added back to the top of the hold queue for items that had been in transit to fill holds. It also appears some indexing did not occur last night as we are experiencing some issues with patron alerts showing the patron has item(s) available but when you check their holds tab there is nothing available. We are hoping this will be rectified with tonight's maintenance reports. We again apologize for the inconveniences created with this mishap. Please contact SWAN Member Services with any other questions and/or issues you may be experiencing. Vickie Totton Consultant, Member Services vickie(a)swanlibraries.net<mailto:vickie@swanlibraries.net> * (630)326-8714 **Please note my new contact information** SWAN Library Services 800 Quail Ridge Drive, Westmont, IL 60559 swanlibraries.net<https://www.swanlibraries.net/> * catalog.swanlibraries.net<https://catalog.swanlibraries.net/> From: swancom-bounces(a)list.swanlibraries.net [mailto:swancom-bounces@list.swanlibraries.net] On Behalf Of Vickie Totton Sent: Tuesday, December 19, 2017 10:14 AM To: swancom(a)list.swanlibraries.net Subject: [SWANcom] Items checked out to MISSTRNSIT Yesterday was the first day the MISSTRNSIT report was scheduled to run on a daily basis. It was unfortunately configured incorrectly which caused all items in transit to be checked out to the MISSTRNSIT user. The report has been corrected and will run as expected in the future. The checkout to MISSTRNSIT placed your patron back at the top of the hold queue. As you process your delivery bins over the next few days you may see a higher number of items routing to other libraries to fill holds, or back to their home library because your patron's hold was filled by another item in the interim. This will not affect any items currently on your holdshelf. Once the item is checked in the previous user will display as MISSTRNSIT. You will not be receiving the In Transit Shelf Check Reports this week as there will be no items that fit the criteria (10-30 days in transit). We will continue to update you as we gain more information with this issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please contact SWAN Member Services if you experience other complications. 12 days of gifts -- day 11

20 Dec '17

On the Eleventh Day of (insert your favorite holiday) ----SWAN elves gave to me [cid:image001.png@01D378CA.31BD1AC0] Whether you celebrate Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, Festivus, the Winter Solstice, or none of the above - SWAN would like to share 12 days of "gifts" with you. One of the most complex processes in Circulation is the handling of damaged RB material. How damaged is it? Who's responsible? What incredible tail has been spun to explain away the damage? We've all heard them. (You're all lending books that seep, right? Of course you are.) For items that are damaged, bill-ably damaged, as distinct from temporarily Unusable due to a locked case or missing part: use the attached flow charts to process the item. Damaged Item received via delivery Damaged item returned by patron (both in person and found in a drop.) These charts may not cover every single contingency. So as always, if you have any questions, please contact Member Services by opening a help ticket at help(a)swanlibraries.net<mailto:help@swanlibraries.net> Helen Pinder Analyst, Member Services helen(a)swanlibraries.net<mailto:helen@swanlibraries.net> * (630)326-8716 SWAN Library Services 800 Quail Ridge Dr, Westmont, Il 60559 swanlibraries.net<https://www.swanlibraries.net/> * catalog.swanlibraries.net<https://catalog.swanlibraries.net/>
