SWAN Member Libraries & IT Staff:
For anyone that was unable to attend yesterday's online Network Migration Open Forum event, the link has been posted online in the SWANTech section of the SWAN Homepage (http://support.swanlibraries.net/content/swan-tech).
Alternatively, you can jump straight to the video here - https://www.fuzemeeting.com/replay_meeting/86f920c1/5920455 (meeting begins at 11-minute mark)
I'd also like to thank everyone that was able to join in on our discussion yesterday. It seemed like attendance was fairly strong, so I think we'll aim to host more online conferences like this in the future.
Thanks again!

SWAN Member Services has discovered that Release 2011 triggered some new behavior with respect to holds. These changes were not mentioned by Innovative in the Release Notes, but have now been confirmed by Innovative. Please take note of the following changes that affect holds management:
* Staff will now need to override the hold block when attempting to place a title level hold for a patron who currently has an item checked out on this same bib record. Staff will see an "Authorization Required" dialog box. Please click "OVERRIDE" to supersede this hold block and successfully place the hold. Initials "super", "circsr" and "circjr" are authorized to override this block.
[cid:image003.jpg@01CF2896.A75FC2B0]
* A selection of holds can no longer be modified as a group from Search/Holds mode after a user has sorted the hold queue by pickup point. Previously, users were able to sort by pickup point, select all holds with that same pickup point, and modify all holds by filling out one dialog box. With the newest release, this is no longer possible. From now on, please modify holds one at a time from the hold queue in Search/Holds mode.
We apologize for any inconvenience. If you should have any questions please contact either Renee Clanton (630-734-5169) or Samantha Dietel (630-734-5163).

Everyone -
SWAN is performing a short survey to determine approximate training needs for our new ILS. Basically we are looking for the number of staff in your various departments or services. If you could designate one staff member in your library to respond to this survey that would be perfect. We would appreciate a quick turnaround of this survey. Please try to complete this by tomorrow noon, if at all possible. If tomorrow is not possible, please submit your answers whenever you have completed them. Your response doesn't have to be exact.
As always I appreciate the wonderful cooperation of the SWAN members, in this instance with the short turnaround even more so.

Everyone -
The monthly statistics that you usually view and download from the Report Server are now available. We actually started to manually email these reports out last week when the process of moving the statistics from the Production machine to the Report server was not working. Some of you received these reports by email Thursday or Friday. For the remainder of you, the reports are now available.
Update - We are still waiting for Innovative to fix the "Your patrons' circ activity" report that is usually available on the SWAN website. We will let you know as soon as this report is available.
Thank you for your patience and have a good week.

Sent on behalf of RAILS/ILA:
SWAN Member Libraries:
The Illinois Library Association (ILA) is hosting a South Suburban Legislative Breakfast on Friday, February 14, from 7:45 - 10:30 a.m., at the Public Landing Restaurant in Lockport. Tickets are only $25 and you can register through next Thursday. Library trustees and staff from all types of libraries (academic, public, school, and special) are strongly encouraged to attend. This is a perfect opportunity to get to know your legislators in an informal setting, to share the issues affecting you and your library, and to network with library colleagues all at the same time. In addition, Kip Kolkmeier, ILA Legislative Consultant, will present up-to-the-minute information about important issues affecting Illinois libraries.
For more information (including a list of libraries and legislators in the area), or to register, visit https://netforum.avectra.com/eWeb/DynamicPage.aspx?Site=ILA&WebCode=EventDe….
Don't miss out on this opportunity to advocate for your library!
