Everyone -
There was a problem with the materials handler (AMH) at Oak Park yesterday. It is now fixed, but unfortunately there is a problem with any ILL materials that were processed by the handler either yesterday or this morning.
Any item crossing the handler yesterday or earlier today that had a hold for another library was assigned a status of "ready for pickup" instead of being given a status of "Intransit". To make matters worse, patrons were notified by email that their requested item was "ready for pickup" at their local library. There are about 400 of these items and they are from Oak Park Main, Dole, and Maze. Oak Park staff are expediting the processing of these materials, but they will not be received by the borrowing library until Monday or after the holiday on Thursday.
We are working with Innovative to see if there is anything that can be done by them to help clear up the problem in the WebPAC and MilCirc.
However, patrons may appear at your library having been notified that their item is "Ready for Pickup". If you cannot locate the item on your holdshelf, check the item record. Any item checked in by the AMH at Oak Park has an IN LOC of 996. These items will also have a Last Updated Date of either 12-19-13 or 12-20-13.
We apologize for this inconvenience. Not exactly the glad tidings you hoped to receive. Sorry.

+++ Please route to appropriate personnel especially Circulation, Tech Services +++
On January 6th , RAILS delivery will be transitioned to CTS (Continental Transportation Solutions).
Part of this transition involves a new three letter delivery code for materials being routed to the Burr Ridge facility for SWAN. The following routing instructions pertain to both Interlibrary Loan materials (SWAN direct loans) along with work forms and materials for SWAN Bibliographic Services (Cataloging). Starting on January 3rd, materials being routed to SWAN at Burr Ridge should be addressed to SWS- SWAN. On January 3rd, holds for Burr Ridge staff will have an updated pickup point of SWS-SWAN in MilCirc.
Anything being routed to SWAN staff should be addressed using a sticky routing label. SWAN libraries should not use an ILDS label to route materials to the Burr Ridge office.
See following example :
[cid:image001.png@01CEFCC6.DEB7E180]
If you are routing work forms or paperwork using a routing envelope please address TO: SWS - SWAN FOR: Bib Services (or other name/department).
Thank you for your cooperation. If you should have any questions concerning this email don't hesitate to call SWAN at 630-734-5153 and we can direct your call. Happy Holidays!

SWAN Member Libraries & Technology Staff:
You may recall several weeks ago that a new SWAN email domain was implemented to handle all patron notices and aliased email traffic. By now, all libraries should have updated their contacts and spam filters to reflect the change, and you've likely noticed that all of your patron notices and bounces are sending/arriving from the new @notices.swanlibraries.net domain. Additional information detailing this change can be found in the following memo...
http://support.swanlibraries.net/news/2013-11-11/network-migration-project-…
This message is a reminder that the SLS/MLS email server will be taken offline in just 14 days (December 31st)! In the unlikely event that you are still receiving valid emails, sent ONLY to your previous XXS(a)mls.lib.il.us<mailto:XXS@mls.lib.il.us> or XXS(a)sls.lib.il.us<mailto:XXS@sls.lib.il.us> addresses, please be sure to notify the sender that these addresses will no longer be valid at the end of the year and continued use of these addresses will result in bounce-back notifications. All of these emails should now be sent through XXS(a)notices.swanlibraries.net<mailto:XXS@notices.swanlibraries.net>.
Thank you again for your cooperation, and should you have any questions or comments about the email migration, please submit a ticket to the SWANTech Queue of the SWAN ticket system or contact me directly at the number listed below.

Everyone -
Just passing along a tip from OCLC on ILL processing with a reminder to update your catalog link. The SWAN catalog new URL is http://catalog.swanlibraries.net . You can update this information yourself in the OCLC Service Configuration area or submit an online form to OCLC support and they will update the catalog link for your library. This catalog linking will allow a potential borrower to view the status of the item they are requesting before they enter your library in the lender's string. Save yourself some work and update your catalog link today.
Everyone have a great week.

Subject: [OCLC-SHARING-L] WorldShare ILL Tip of the Week: Save staff time by using library catalog links to confirm availability
Importance: High
The new OCLC WorldShare® Interlibrary Loan service lets ILL staff link to library catalogs to confirm availability of items requested through interlibrary loan.
Ø Borrowers can link from a staff workform to confirm local availability before initiating a request and can link to potential lender catalogs to determine availability before including them in the lending string.
Ø Lenders can link to their own catalogs from lending requests to quickly determine whether requested items are available for loan. For example, WorldShare ILL users will see the following options for linking to library catalogs:
[cid:image001.png@01CEFA38.2F511A80]Search my library's online catalog (links to your own catalog)
[cid:image002.png@01CEFA38.2F511A80]Library names in Holdings list hotlinked for libraries with catalog links in OCLC Service Configuration
[cid:image005.jpg@01CEF80E.79C53140]
To effectively use this library catalog linking feature in WorldShare ILL, borrowing and lending libraries must maintain up-to-date catalog links in the "Online Catalog" area of the WorldCat Registry settings in OCLC Service Configuration<http://www.worldcat.org/config>:

ENTER OR UPDATE LINKS TO YOUR LIBRARY'S CATALOG
To make sure links to your library's catalog are working as they should, either log on to OCLC Service Configuration to review and update your links or let OCLC staff make the updates for you.
1. Ask OCLC staff to update links to your library's catalog. OCLC staff with experience in setting up these links will set up links to your library's catalog for you. Just complete the catalog link information form<http://registration.oclc.org/reg/?pc=WorldShareILLOPAClinks> with the needed information, and we will do the rest!
Your updated library catalog link information will be active in WorldShare ILL by the end of the business day following your submission.
2. Update library catalog links yourself. If you already have an account to access OCLC Service Configuration, log on to the site at http://www.worldcat.org/config and navigate to the "Online Catalog" area of the section for WorldCat Registry settings. You will see the option to "Suggest Links." This tool will help you confirm that the links you enter are in the appropriate format for the type of catalog at your library. Once you enter your updated link data, it will be active within 24 hours.
FOR ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE
For additional information about setting up or updating links to your library's catalog:
· Consult the "Online Catalog" area of the WorldCat Registry section of the OCLC Service Configuration Guide<http://www.oclc.org/content/dam/support/worldcat-local/documentation/Servic…> documentation
· Contact OCLC Customer Support at support(a)oclc.org<mailto:support@oclc.org> or OCLC Support in your region<http://www.oclc.org/support/contact-support.en.html> for assistance with using Article Exchange for document delivery.
P.S. Previous WorldShare ILL "Tip of the Week" messages are available for your review on the OCLC website.<http://www.oclc.org/support/training/portfolios/resource-sharing/worldshare…>
