SWAN Uniform Practice for Volume Field Information

In order to improve the customer experience when placing volume level holds, SWAN will be standardizing the volume field information. Effective immediately, the following will be standard practice for volume information entered into the volume field. Please note there is a space preceding the number in each example. All letters are to be uppercase. V. 1 BOOK 1 DISC 1 PART 1 Do not add "set", "season 1" or the like into the volume field for a boxed set. This should be left blank for all sets cataloged moving forward. Consultants from Innovative have begun work to clean up the volume fields in existing records. This project will convert any variations of volume, book, disc or part to the above format. SWAN Bibliographic Services staff will address additional volume field data cleanup post go-live. SWAN Board Election: Self-Nominations Now Open!

SWAN Library Directors and Administrators: We are pleased to announce the start of the 2015 SWAN Board election process. SWAN will have three open at-large position on the Board starting July 1, 2015. The SWAN Board is comprised of seven library directors elected from our SWAN member libraries. Board member responsibilities include: * Acting on issues affecting the long-term future of SWAN * Monitoring SWAN's finances and the overall financial health of SWAN * Maintaining open lines of communication with the SWAN membership Since our open seats are all at-large now, any director can submit a statement of interest for this election. The goal is to have an open process and at the same time ensure that all SWAN membership is represented during elections. RAILS Meeting for SWAN Board & ILL Staff

Attention SWAN Library Inter-Library Loan Staff: As you are most likely aware, RAILS is undertaking a multiyear, four phase project to explore options to provide more seamless access to Resource Sharing (i.e., searching system-wide holdings and placing interlibrary loan requests) throughout the service area for all libraries. RAILS is currently in Phase Two: Research into Organizational Factors.
