SWAN Libraries: The presentation from yesterday's SWAN Quarterly meeting is now online. Look under the section for the June 4, 2015 date. https://support.swanlibraries.net/gov/meetings Direct link to the PowerPoint is here: https://support.swanlibraries.net/sites/default/files/meeting/2015-06-04/SW… Our apologies for the online streaming yesterday. It experienced a lot of audio problems repeatedly throughout the stream, and the sessions were restarted a number of times. We will make sure to resolve this for the next online meeting. The recording of the meeting was not affected and will be uploaded to our SWAN YouTube channel soon. We will email everyone once it is available. Holds for CPL and Non-SWAN RB patrons
by Kate Boyle 04 Jun '15

04 Jun '15

+++ please route to appropriate staff +++ Everyone - It's a new day! As of this morning, we are able to effectively block NON-SWAN RB patrons ( this includes Chicago Public) from placing holds in Enterprise, while allowing staff to place holds in Workflows for them. This means that staff can allow the software to control what is holdable to these patrons in Workflows. There is no longer a prompt for an override. In addition, gone are the additional restrictions that only copy holds can be placed on only your items for NON-SWAN patrons. You can place System level title holds without using an override, except in rare instances (Non-Circ items, etc). Non-SWAN RB and Chicago patrons can in the My Account area of Enterprise: Change their PIN, Set preferences, Setup text messaging, View checkouts, Renew items if eligible for renewal, Cancel holds, Change Pickup point (only to those libraries that have opted in to "Pickup Anywhere"), Suspend holds, Un-suspend holds, and View fines. The only thing they can't do is place a hold. Enjoy!!!!! If you should have any questions, please call Member Services at 630-734-5153 or email help(a)swanlibraries.net<mailto:help@swanlibraries.net> Kate Boyle SWAN Member Services Manager Reaching Across Illinois Library System Burr Ridge Office Phone: 630.734.5162 Fax: 630.734.5056 kate.boyle(a)railslibraries.info<mailto:kate.boyle@railslibraries.info> http://www.railslibraries.info

Monthly Statistics now available on the SWAN website
by Kate Boyle 01 Jun '15

01 Jun '15

++Please route to appropriate personnel++ Everyone The statistics for the month of May are now available on the SWAN website <https://support.swanlibraries.net/content/2015-sirsidynix-stats> (click on the Statistics tab and choose 2015 SirsiDynix statistics). We have 12 statistical reports available for you. * We have Checkouts by Interface, Renewals by Interface, and Holds by Interface - you will notice there are columns listed as SVA, Bookmyne, and unknown you will begin to see statistics in these columns in the near future. For your total circulation count, dependent upon library policy, you may want to add renewals and checkouts. * Then we have checkouts by our new user categories ( which I have referenced as pcode2, pcode3, and pcode4 for ease of use). * Monthly checkouts by Item Library/Library Profile will give you your reciprocal borrowing stats - just remember to subtract checkouts to your library users profiles. * Monthly checkout by Charging Library/ Item Library will give you your ILL activity - but again you would need to subtract checkout of your material at your library (charging library). It is easier to use the Monthly ILL Sent and ILL Received where the checkout of your material at your library (including any bookmobiles), has been removed for you. Remember ILL Sent is read down, ILL Rec'd is read across. * Monthly checkins by Charging library/Item Library * Monthly In-house Use - you must use the Mark Item Used Wizard to generate this statistic * Monthly Users Added We will be adding two more reports ASAP - * Monthly Bibs Added * Monthly Items Added If you should have any questions, please call Member Services at 630-734-5153 or email us at help(a)swanlibraries.net<mailto:help@swanlibraries.net> Have a great week crunching numbers. generic patrons and Unique collections
by Edlyn LeFevour 01 Jun '15

01 Jun '15

Please route to appropriate personnel: There has been an issue with generic patrons being selected for collection when we run the reports for Unique. To correct this problem, SWAN has created a new status in the User record under the Library Defined category of "No_Unique" . This new "Library Defined" category will be available to the libraries tomorrow, after tonight's halt and run. For any generic (in-house) patrons and/or actual patrons that should not be sent to collection, your library staff should change the "Library defined" category in those records to "No_Unique". As we run reports in the future, these users will not be selected for collection. To update these special patrons beginning tomorrow morning: * In Modify User retrieve the user record you want to update * Under the Demographics tab, in the Library Defined category, choose "No_Unique from the dropdown. * Click on Save to store change. If you should have any questions, please call Edlyn Le Fevour at 630-734-5161.
