Berwyn PL closed 4/15 for In-service Day

Heart Bleed SSL Vulnerability

SWAN Member Libraries & IT Staff Several members have inquired about the recently discovered Heart Bleed SSL Vulnerability, and how this might affect SWAN servers and patron data. Earlier this week, it was determined that SWAN is currently running a version of SSL that is unaffected by this attack. We also verified this through several SSL vulnerability check utilities. While we will continue to monitor the situation and perform additional testing to ensure our network and patron data is appropriately secured, it appears that no vulnerabilities relating to the Heart Bleed bug are present on the SWAN servers or network at this time. While SWAN may be secure, however, we do recommend that you check with your other library and personal services to ensure that your passwords are secure. *Update* Baker & Taylor Issues Following Network Migration

SWAN Member Libraries - Just to give a quick update, most widespread issues relating to the Network Migration have been resolved, including access to Baker & Taylor's Axis360. However, we're continuing to troubleshoot issues with Innovative's Quick Clicks system. This issue affects Quick Clicks ordering via several major vendors, including Baker & Taylor, Brodart, Ingram, Midwest Tapes, and Innovate Ecommerce. We're continuing to work with these vendors to find a solution as soon as possible. We greatly appreciate your continued patience, and we'll keep you informed as soon as new information is available. The issues reported are as follows... 1. Axis360 Patron Authentication gives "Access Denied" error a. This issue is believed to be resolved. SWAN Board Election: Self-Nomination Now Open!

SWAN Library Directors and Administrators: We are pleased to announce the start of the 2014 SWAN Board election process. SWAN will have one open at-large position on the Board starting July 1, 2014. The SWAN Board is comprised of seven library directors elected from our SWAN member libraries. Board member responsibilities include: * Acting on issues affecting the long-term future of SWAN * Monitoring SWAN's finances and the overall financial health of SWAN * Maintaining open lines of communication with the SWAN membership Since our open seat is an at-large position, any director from groups A, B, or C can submit a statement of interest for this election. The goal is to have an open process and at the same time ensure that all SWAN membership is represented during elections. Additionally, for those of you that need to run monthly statistics for March from our Report server, we strongly recommend generating and pulling those reports prior to the migration date to avoid any possible issues should extended downtime occur.
