SWAN ILS Committee: Overview of Work to Date, Plus Seating Available for Demos & Streaming

To All SWAN Member Libraries: The SWAN ILS Committee wanted to provide you all a summary of the work performed to-date on our search and evaluation of our next integrated library system (ILS) software. The attached memo provides brief background on the initial vendors and ILS under consideration, how these was narrowed during the process to the three SWAN will have software demonstrations for October 3, 4, 7, 8, 10, & 11 at our Burr Ridge headquarters. Seats are still available for anyone interested in attending! Announcement: ILS Vendor Demos Schedule

Announcement to SWAN Libraries: Vendor Demonstrations The SWAN ILS Committee is excited to announce that the three ILS software vendors will be providing six days of software demonstrations for the SWAN membership. Each of the three vendors will be onsite at the Burr Ridge building for two days each. The days have been divided into specific sessions to demonstrate various service areas of the ILS. The schedule begins on the third page of this memo, starting this Thursday October 3rd. Covered in this memo: * Attending & signing up, requesting library staff sign-up limits per session * Agenda by topic, including some repeat sessions * Live streaming of selected sessions * Tutorials & videos available Please make sure to register in advance for all the sessions you wish to attend. OCLC WorldShare ILL update

+++ Please route to appropriate personnel +++ OCLC has announced a new timeline for the migration of WorldCat Resource Sharing to OCLC WorldShare ILL. The following is an excerpt from the ISL E-news : "OCLC has decided to extend access to WorldCat Resource Sharing<http://www.oclc.org/resource-sharing.en.html> to May 2014. The change was made in response to requests from the OCLC interlibrary loan community that OCLC provide additional time for them to fully learn the new WorldShare ILL service while retaining access to WorldCat Resource Sharing. The new schedule for libraries' transitions from WorldCat Resource Sharing to WorldShare ILL is: * All new requests must be placed in WorldShare ILL (no new requests placed in WorldCat Resource Sharing): April 14, 2014 * End of access to WorldCat Resource Sharing: May 19, 2014 Between now and May 19, 2014, OCLC will continue to add new features to the service. The next scheduled release of features is in November 2013. Between November 2013 and February 2014, the service will not change substantially to provide an opportunity to become more familiar with WorldShare ILL during a three-month period when the service remains essentially unchanged."
