*Action Required: Please update L2 accounts by Friday, August 22nd * As SWAN staff complete the profiling process, we are continuing to plan the training program. In addition to instructor-led training, library staff will have access to SirsiDynix Mentor, an online learning portal. Through SirsiDynix Mentor, staff can take self-paced online training courses on Symphony, Enterprise, and other SirsiDynix products. We will use the L2 directory to create training accounts for library staff members. Mentor will be a valuable training resource, and we want to be sure that all staff who will use Symphony or Enterprise have access. Please update your L2 account by August 29th. Individuals may create their own L2 accounts, or L2 accounts may be managed by a library director or their designee. Administrators, please review your library's L2 accounts by August 29th and: * Remove accounts for staff no longer with the library * Create accounts for library staff not listed. Illinois State Library Proposed Rules to the Library System Act: Library Director Comment Encouraged

SWAN Library Directors & Administrators: Forgive me for any cross-posting. The Illinois State Library is proposing rules changes to the Library System Act, and there is currently a public comment process available online. Refer to this URL: http://illibrarysystemstandards.wordpress.com/multitype-library-system-admi… If you have not taken a look at the proposed changes, I would encourage you to do so and to also read the comments that many of your colleagues have already left. There are some significant changes being proposed, and they are worthy of your time. This public comment phase ends on Monday, August 18th. My understanding of the next steps are as follows: 1. The draft rules changes (with possible changes based on the public comment period included) will be presented to the Illinois State Library Advisory Committee (ISLAC) in September. After the committee's approval, it will go to the General Assembly's Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR). Information in RAILS E-News was shared today about this process: http://us1.campaign-archive1.com/?u=2c51285b8d63e23716bce030f&id=aa35942047… RAILS Executive Director Dee Brennan has critiqued the proposed changes in her blog: https://www.railslibraries.info/director-blog/20140723/system-rules-changes… AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, I have attached a RAILS document titled "Detailed Analysis of Proposed Changes to Administrative Rules" sent to the RAILS Directors-Only email community. The RAILS comments in the document are very insightful and provide a detailed analysis of the proposed changes. My apologies again for any cross-posting of information. It will be inclusive of approximately 90% of the library; involving the circulation, youth, adult and staff departments. more details Dates of Closure: August 7 -September 13, 2014 Last day open to the public before project begins: Wednesday, August 6 - 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. First day open to the public after project ends: Monday, September 15 - 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. During this time: .
