Library Calendar Wizard and Hold Cancellation Notices

Library Calendar SWAN Libraries now have the option to manage their own Library Calendar, also referred to as Days Closed. The Library Calendar Wizard is now located in the Special Wizards Group under the Circulation toolbar. You will need to use the Circulation Supervisor password to access it. If you would still prefer SWAN manage your library calendar for you, please email your dates to help(a)swanlibraries.net<mailto:help@swanlibraries.net>. Be sure to indicate you would like SWAN to manage these dates for you. If you choose to manage your own Library Calendar, you do not need to send SWAN your scheduled closings. But, for emergency closings - after adding dates to your calendar, please notify SWAN so we can modify existing due dates as a convenience for your patrons and notify the membership on your behalf. Cancellation Notices for Manually Cancelled Holds SWAN is now able to send hold cancellation notices for holds cancelled in Enterprise or Workflows with an inactive reason of CANCELLED. This includes holds patrons cancel themselves or holds cancelled by staff. Just like the current hold cancellation notices that are already running, these notices are only sent via email and are go out once daily, in the morning. SWAN Board Election Update - Announcement of Candidates

Good morning SWAN Libraries: Now that the self-nomination window has ended, we are pleased to announce our candidates for the 2 open seats in our 2018 Board election. We received Statements of Interest from the following candidates for your consideration in the upcoming election: Natalie Bazan of North Riverside Public Library District, Julie Milavec of Downers Grove Public Library, and Stacy Wittmann of Eisenhower Public Library District. Our election will officially open for voting on Monday, April 30th. I will send out a SWANcom once the polls are open. They will remain open until Friday, May 18th at 5pm CST. The results will be announced at our June 7th Quarterly meeting. The new board members will begin serving their terms on July 1st. Web Services Downtime Tuesday, April 3rd at 9 AM

Good morning member libraries, SWAN will be working with SirsiDynix to perform an upgrade of the current Symphony Web Services platform. We'll be moving to version 2018.03, which resolves a bug with the 'Forgot My PIN' feature. We've scheduled the upgrade with SirsiDynix for Tuesday April 3rd, to start between 9:00am and 9:30am. This upgrade will require downtime of Web Services for about 20 minutes. Masking PINs in Symphony Set for Mon 4/16

SWAN Libraries, This announcement pertains to one area of our Symphony global configuration that is overdue for improved security: masking personal identification numbers, or PINs. With SWAN's database of 1 million library user's information, and soon to be 1.3 million patron records, it is time to provide a minimum of privacy to our patron's accounts. What was initially a temporary measure after SWAN switched to Symphony in April 2015, instead lasted three years. We have set Monday, April 16, 2018 as the day when PINs in Symphony will no longer be visible, but will be masked by asterisks. Special or Academic Library Cardholders at Public Libraries

++Please route to appropriate personnel++ Effective Tuesday, 3/27/2018 Should a cardholder from a special or academic library attempt to use their card at a public SWAN library, that user will be blocked from circulation. This will help eliminate any accidental checkouts to these users should staff miss that this is not a public library user record. This has been a long-outstanding request that we are now happy to accommodate! If public library staff attempt to check out to or renew items for a special or academic library cardholder, they will see the following message. Please note that this message cannot be overridden. Enterprise 5.0 Upgrade and Profile Updates

SWAN Membership, The Enterprise upgrade was completed this morning but we encountered some issues throughout the day today. What was encountered after the upgrade was in two main categories: * Searches that return no results for your library profile * Downloadable eBooks and Audiobook searches that return no results Things appear to be stable at the moment but we ask that you remain vigilant and report any issues with searching via help(a)swanlibraries.net<mailto:help@swanlibraries.net> This upgrade also included SWAN's Enterprise updates to the home page, header, and footer.
