WorkFlows slowness and invalid sequence errors

SWAN Member Libraries and Information Technology Staff: Our Production server encountered a period of high load average this evening. Your WorkFlows sessions may have slowed down or generated errors during this window from approximately 4:40-5PM. The server load has normalized and WorkFlows is functioning smoothly now. However, if you are encountering an "Invalid Sequence Number" error, please close your WorkFlows session and open a new session. This should clear up any lingering errors. We will continue to monitor the server this evening, but do not anticipate any further issues. Thanks for your patience. SWAN Employee Announcement

SWAN Libraries: We have an exciting staffing announcement for you all. We have officially hired our new Assistant Director for SWAN. Dawne Tortorella will be joining us starting on Monday, June 4th. Dawne comes to us with a wealth of library-world experience, including having most recently helped to leading the MAGIC consortium under while working for RAILS. She has also worked for OCLC, taught MLS and MIS coursework for Dominican, San Jose State, and DePaul, and led her own company Bellcow which provides tech support and IT strategy for libraries and other organizations. We welcome her expertise with libraries, consortial operations, SirsiDynix, and IT, and feel truly fortunate to have her join SWAN. Update on Symphony upgrade and Auto-renewals

+++ Please route to appropriate personnel +++ SWAN has decided to delay the upgrade to SYMPHONY 3.5.2 in order to allow us time to include the new Service Pack 1 release. This combined upgrade to 3.5.2.1 will be live on Tuesday, June 13th. As many of you know, we want to implement Auto-renewals after the upgrade to allow us to set the renewal period from the original due date of the material, as opposed to the date the renewal is performed. So, you can anticipate Auto-renewals to be up and working for your library on June 13th (unless your library opted-out). SWAN has the master for the customizable Auto-renewal bookmarks ready to go and you will be able to download a .doc and a .pdf version on Monday, May 1st. The sticky labels have been ordered and upon receipt will be sent to your library if you requested some. SWAN Board Election Begins Today!

SWAN Members: Voting for the SWAN Board Election opens today for the two vacancies on the SWAN Board beginning on July 1, 2017. The election will run May 1st through May 19th, and the new Board will be announced the week of May 22nd via SWANcom. RAILS Delivery Count

I just wanted to share information regarding the RAILS required delivery count to be held May 8 -12th. The following announcement was sent via RAILS enews. Reminder: Required Delivery Count May 8-12 All RAILS member libraries, except for libraries that are members of CARLI (Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois), are required to count all outgoing items being picked up for delivery between Monday, May 8 and Friday, May 12. Outgoing items are those being delivered from your library to another location, including items being sent to fill interlibrary loan requests and items you are returning to other libraries. Beginning on Friday, May 5, after your delivery items have been picked up for that day, please count all items in each delivery container, complete this form<http://railslibraries.us1.list-manage2.com/track/click?u=2c51285b8d63e23716…>, and place it on top of the items in each container. More Volunteers Needed for New 19 Sister Library Program

Current SWAN Member Libraries, SWAN is welcoming 19 new libraries to the consortium, with a go-live date in spring/summer of 2018. Throughout the migration, these new 19 libraries will be paired with current SWAN member libraries to have one-on-one sister library relationships. Current and future SWAN libraries will be able to discuss services and products, network, share knowledge and resources, as well as strengthen relationships within the Illinois library community. We believe this is a great opportunity to welcome the new libraries, and know that both current and new members have a wealth of knowledge we've accumulated using SirsiDynix products. We're still in need of current SWAN member libraries to volunteer for the Sister Library program. We'd like to introduce our new and current member libraries at the June Quarterly meeting on June 1 (http://www.librarylearning.info/events/?eventID=24134). After we have enough current member libraries that have volunteered, we will email you to let you know what library we have matched you with, the contact information you'll want to have to interact with your sister library, and more details about what kind of interactions you might want to have with your paired library. The relationships will kick off at the June 1 Quarterly meeting. SWAN June 1st Quarterly Meeting - Change of Venue

Hello SWAN Member Libraries, Our Thursday, June 1st Quarterly meeting (9:30 a.m. start) was previously scheduled to be held at RAILS Burr Ridge. Due to some upcoming RAILS building renovations, we have changed the location of the meeting to Westmont Public Library at 428 N. Cass Ave. in Westmont. Same day and place, but this means we also will be unable to live stream this meeting as we have been able to do in the past. The L2 meeting has been updated to reflect the change. Depending upon the RAILS construction schedule we will evaluate at a later date if the September Quarterly meeting location also needs to be changed, and keep you informed as soon as we know more.
