Call for Session Ideas for SWANx2019!

Hi Library Staff! Save the Date! Friday, August 16, 2019 is our annual event, which we call SWANx or SWAN Expo (we used to call it SWANstravaganza but that is really difficult to type). SWANx19 event planning is underway, but we need your help. The theme for this year's event is a SWAN Expo which will be a showcase on how libraries are enhancing their communities. Our event planning group is looking for topics on interesting ways you engage with the community you serve. This could be event programs, community outreach, technology based tools, or collaboration with local school districts. Library In-Service

Bridgeview Public Library will be closing early on March 20th, 2019 for a staff In-Service. The library will close at 4PM on the 20th and will resume regular hours on March 21st, 2019. Palos Park Library will be closed March 29th all day for an In-Service Day. They will resume regular hours on March 30th. SWAN FY20 Budget and LLSAP Funding Amounts for FY20

Hello Library Directors & Administrators, The SWAN FY20 budget was approved last week at the quarterly meeting. The SWAN Membership fees for FY20 are now posted online at the link below. https://support.swanlibraries.net/about/budget There was interest at the quarterly meeting about the LLSAP funding for the 6 consortia in RAILS. This funding is provided in a letter to SWAN shared in the SWAN Board packet from October 18, 2018. *Update - Ready for Logins* Ongoing MobileCirc Login Issues

SWAN Member Library Staff: After extensive troubleshooting alongside SirsiDynix support and adjustments to our MobileCirc authentication procedure, we're happy to announce that the app is again stable and ready for library logins, although we're still working to fully resolve the issue. Through our troubleshooting, we determined that MobileCirc performs a query during the login/authentication process to collect delinquent patrons barcodes in the event that the app needs to run offline during that day. This is similar to how WorkFlows collects a user delinquency file for use in offline mode. At our current volume of users matching this criteria, the query would cause MobileCirc to become unstable, leading either to higher CPU loads on the Symphony server or a timeout during authentication. SirsiDynix has proposed the development of a new MobileCirc version that permits offline delinquency as optional. Since SWAN does not currently support MobileCirc in offline mode due to several other previously identified bugs impacting holds and item statuses, this is the ideal solution to the issue. However, development of this version could take up to several months, so through some trial and error, we've managed to throttle the volume of delinquent users passed to the offline file for both MobileCirc and WorkFlows. Currently, patrons with a last activity date greater than two years are not reflected in the offline delinquency. This will only be temporary until the new version of MobileCirc becomes available.
