2018 SWANx Conference - Session Descriptions and Invoicing Now Available

Hello all, Based on your feedback, we've incorporated a few more features into our SWANx registration page at: https://swanx18.eventbrite.com A List of Sessions and Presenters are now available for you in the body of the registration form. Additionally, we have descriptions for your review for both keynote and breakout sessions available attached to the email. Invoicing Option Now Available for those who desire group registration. Simply choose how many tickets you'll need, and in the payment type dropdown select 'Pay By Invoice.' You will be asked to note your billing address/Attn. to or email address for billing at the bottom; please list that and I will mail or email you an invoice accordingly. You will still need to list each attendee's names separately, for lunch choices and registration packet creation. **Resolved**: SWAN Datacenter Outage on 5/17

SWAN Member Library Staff: The SWAN/RAILS Datacenter outage has concluded and we do not expect any further downtime today. The issue was caused by a widespread outage of ICN, the RAILS datacenter Internet Service Provider. ICN has informed RAILS that the issue has since been resolved. SWAN Symphony Reports, Acquisitions, and the "New Normal"

SWAN Libraries, The addition of our 19 new libraries increased the demand on our Symphony Reports system. This was largely expected, but I want to outline some of the steps we are taking, and to assure our libraries that the longer queues for reports is something we are working on behind the scenes to address. 1. We have worked to ensure that use of Symphony Reports as a statistical tool will be met through BLUEcloud Analytics. We are holding open labs for the new member libraries to get the reports they need scheduled in Analytics. 2. Acquisitions libraries in SWAN increased from 15 to 27, which has put the use of the X12 report into wider use. This report when run is queuing up and waiting behind other reports. We are looking at ways we can cut back on the delays. 3. SWAN libraries relying on Symphony Reports for specific statistics will be provided opportunities to transition to Analytics, but this will require us to set a deadline at some stage. Some reports can only run in Symphony, but the majority have an equivalent in Analytics. 4. SWAN's notices for automated phone, text, email, and print are running at times throughout the day, so we are examining this configuration to see if we can compress the length of time they run. The goal we have is to see what our "new normal" will be with the expansion of our membership. Many libraries within the 19 delayed processing orders during the technical services freeze, so please bear with us while we work to determine if there is a temporary demand, or a new normal. 2018 OCLC Agreements, and SLUI Meeting on 5/17

First, your OCLC annual agreements: we are receiving some inquiries on this topic, so I have posted some information on the SWAN support site. *Resolved* Intermittent Server Load Issues / Runaway Harvest on 5/8

We're still working to determine the root cause of the issue, but expect the server should remain stable for the remainder of the day. We'll send additional SWANcoms should any further issues arise. REMINDER: Cataloging Freeze Tomorrow, May 6th

SWAN Libraries- This is just a reminder that tomorrow (Sunday, May 6th) we will be instating a full cataloging freeze for ALL SWAN LIBRARIES to correct a data load issue with LINC call numbers. Please do not perform any of the following actions or use the following wizards on Sunday: * Adding/Editing items * Creating/Overlaying bib records and pre-cats (neither manually, using Load Bibs Report, nor SmartPort) * Manually deleting items (Charging to DISCARD users is okay) * Global Item Modification Wizard * Transfers Wizard * Load Bibs with Order Info Report * Add Ordered Items wizard * Add Brief Title wizard (ILLs) Any changes made tomorrow will not be indexed until the full system rebuild later this month, so it is imperative you adhere to the freeze. We expect the script to run most of the day and normal library operations will resume Monday, May 7th.
