National Change of Address Processing

SWAN Member Library Staff: We have received the address change data from Unique and will be updating patron records starting today. The number of patron records sent for processing was 917,567. Of those, 31,349 were returned with address changes for a change rate of 3.4%. In preparation, today we have temporarily disabled the Symphony function to update Last Activity Date when a patron's address information is changed. Once processing begins over the next couple of days, manual address changes may be overridden by this update. Missing titles in Aspen checkout history

Aspen Boundless integration issues

Good afternoon member libraries, We are experiencing issues with the Boundless APIs, which integrate Boundless into the Aspen catalog. The Boundless app and website are not affected. To minimize confusion for patrons, we have requested for our Aspen integration to be turned off until the API issues are resolved. Aspen 24.12 release

Planned OCLC Downtime

SWAN Aspen Discovery catalog: update on performance issues last week

SWAN member libraries- The Aspen Discovery catalog on Wednesday, November 13th began to experience performance issues-slowness with search results, long waits for account login. This lasted until Friday when our hosting provider ByWater Solutions put in place a solution and the performance returned to normal. What was happening was our hosted Aspen server was undergoing a denial-of-service attack. This was not a security breach, so no patron data was affected. The server was undergoing a huge amount of service requests, potentially thousands per second from a bot network. ByWater blocked the origin of the denial-of-service attack, but it required blocking some IP addresses that have left some member libraries blocked from the Aspen catalog. We have resolved all but three libraries, with SWAN staff going on site or arranging consultations with these libraries: Richton Park, Brookfield, and River Grove. Aspen server migration unsuccessful
