Swan Circ Advisory Committee Election results

Everyone- Voting is now closed and I am pleased to announce the newly elected members of the SWAN Circ Advisory Committee. They are four At-Large members: Mary Moss (EPS), Jessica Nawrocki (FRS), Roberta Richter (LPS), and Brittany Smith (WMS) . And Tori Tracy from Prairie State College was re-elected to fill the Academic/Special library seat. It was a very close race and everyone is to be congratulated. SWAN Self-Check Software Group Purchase

SWAN Library Administrators and Information Technology Staff: Just a quick reminder - SWAN is currently coordinating a group purchase with EnvisionWare for the One-Stop 2.0 self-checkout software. This software can be used to replace an existing Innovative Express Lane installation prior to our SirsiDynix migration, OR, if your library does not currently have any self-check software or if you're thinking about upgrading from your current configuration, this is a terrific opportunity to join in on the significantly discounted pricing. We already have a handful of libraries participating, but as more libraries join in, we will see even greater discounts for the entire group. Please contact me directly if you would like additional information about the group purchase or if you're interested in participating. We're looking to collect responses from interested libraries by early November so that we can roll out the software as soon as possible. Action Required - Online Resource List due October 17

To the member libraries: SWAN staff will begin configuring each library's Enterprise installations in October. Enterprise online catalog we'll be using with SirsiDynix Symphony starting in April. Due to the customization options in Enterprise, we will need to collect information from your library for various aspects of the configuration. First, we are requesting information on your library's online databases and streaming/downloadable media offerings. This information will assist us in setting up EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) and eResource Central (eRc). EDS will allow allows users to search database holdings directly in Enterprise, and eRc will integrate ebooks and other downloadable media. Please complete the attached Excel workbook (LibraryResourceList.xlsx) by October 17th. This document should be completed by the person responsible for maintaining your library's online resources. We have prepared a guide to completing the workbook (ResourceListInstructions.pdf), and are happy to answer any additional questions you have. SWAN Circ Advisory election update

Everyone - Yesterday an announcement for the Election of SWAN Circ Advisory Committee members was sent out on SWANcom. Inadvertently, the SWANcom stated that Library Administrators should cast the ballot for this election. That statement was in error. As always, the Circulation Manager/Supervisor is the person we ask to cast the ballot for each library. The reason being that Circulation Managers are familiar with the various candidates and have worked with these individuals for years in most cases. For any Library Director that took the time yesterday to vote for the Committee we appreciate your time in participating in the process. Monthly Statistics

However, SWAN staff are involved in SirsiDynix System Administration training for the rest of the week and through Wednesday of next week. Item records for OverDrive and eRead Illinois subscriptions

Hi everyone, Happy Friday! SWAN now has an enhanced process for loading the records we receive from OverDrive and Baker and Taylor. We are now able to load item records for each subscribing library as we load the bibliographic records. Individual libraries will no longer have to add item records after titles are loaded. Over the next week, we will begin loading these enhanced batches of records from eRead Illinois, Media On Demand, eMedia Library and My Media Mall. We have included holdings for all libraries on current subscription lists supplied by OverDrive and eRead Illinois. If there are discrepancies, please contact me and I will update the information. When the first batches are loaded, please do a spot check of the holdings for your library to ensure that the item information is correct. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
