SWAN Quarterly meeting 6/6/24 agenda & packet now posted

Hello SWAN library directors & administrators- The agenda and meeting packet for next week's meeting Thursday, June 6th at Oak Brook Public Library is now posted. https://support.swanlibraries.net/meeting/94449 Our big discussion topic for Thursday will be the yet to be announced statewide contract for research databases. SWAN has learned the contact has been awarded to EBSCO, but there are some differences with the statewide solution and our existing group-purchase for public libraries. We have a few options to present for SWAN libraries that are concerned about retaining a comprehensive database package, which would include Novelist Plus and Consumer Reports which are not in the statewide deal. We will also present about public library website ADA complaints and how this relates to SWAN's Aspen Discovery. Hope to see you in person next week! Searching Issues in Aspen

SWAN Member Library Staff, We are currently experiencing intermittent issues with searching in Aspen Discovery. These intermittent issues are resulting in a few search timeout error messages. SWAN Board 2024 election results

The election for two seats on 7 member SWAN governing board has concluded with 60 participating voters. Dawn Bussey, Library Director Glen Ellyn Public Library: elected Zach Musil, Library Director Tinley Park Public Library: elected Special thanks to Ridgeway Burns, Library Director Itasca Community Library, and Natalie Starosta, Library Director North Riverside Public Library for participating in the election. Only library directors/administrators will be able to access the e-ballot link. SWAN Board 2024 election candidate slate

The self-nomination period has ended and the slate of candidates for the two seats on the SWAN Board will be the following. Ridgeway Burns, Itasca Community Library Dawn Bussey, Glen Ellyn Public Library Natalie Starosta, North Riverside Public Library District Zach Musil, Tinley Park Public Library The SWAN Board election will run from Monday, May 6, 2024 through May 24, 2024. Individual emails will be sent to library directors/administrators who will cast a single vote on behalf of the library. For this election, SWAN will be using its Support site to restrict e-ballot access to only library directors/administrators. I will send out details via email next week, as well as a SWANcom announcement that those individual emails with the e-ballot have been sent.
