Everyone -
Just a reminder - If you should make the decision to close your library due to weather,
please update the RAILS website.
http://www.railslibraries.info/members/closings
However, there is no need to notify SWAN to update the "Days Closed" table on
the day you are closed as we have recently discovered that is not effective .
The "Days Closed" Innovative software does not recognize today's date as
today, but rather the following year's date. In other words, if anyone would be
closed tomorrow and we enter 3/12 in the "Days Closed" table tomorrow morning
the table considers that to be 3/12/15, not 3/12/14. If, however, we enter 3/12 today, it
will consider your library as being closed tomorrow 3/12/14. This is due in part to the
fact that the "Days Closed" table only accepts a month and day, not a year.
More importantly, it doesn't recognize today as today.
I just thought it was important for everyone to be aware of this fact as it appears a
significant snowfall is forecasted for tomorrow. So, if you should close tomorrow due to
weather and we update the "Days Closed" table, the software will still assess a
fine on any overdue materials even though the library is closed.
Sorry for any confusion.
