On Wednesday, November 18, the SWAN Enterprise catalog will be inaccessible during a
scheduled upgrade from version 4.3 to version 4.5, starting at 9:00 PM and lasting
approximately 2 hours.
We will notify libraries via the SWANcom email list during this upgrade with our progress.
On Thursday, November 19, libraries can expect the catalog to be fully functional upon
resumption of morning business hours.
Access the "SWAN Enterprise 4.5 Release Notes" here to learn more about the
upgrades scheduled, including:
https://support.swanlibraries.net/system/files/Members%20Only/Enterprise/SW…
* Improved search results - Popular titles will appear with better relevancy
* Wording changes to drop-down search menus - To navigate the catalog more
intuitively
* New facet for eBook vendors OverDrive, 3M, and Baker & Taylor - So patrons
can see your favorite eBook provider or other preferences first
Better labels for your favorite searches:
* All Libraries searches all SWAN libraries and your library's eBooks, which
you can download directly from the catalog
* All Libraries (no eBooks) searches all SWAN libraries and excludes eBooks
* Downloadable eBooks and eAudiobooks searches your library's downloadable
collections; you can place holds and download titles directly from the catalog
* Library logos resized - Part of the upgrade includes changes to cascading style
sheets (CSS) files, which are website page controls in Enterprise 4.5 resulting in smaller
library logos.
* NYTimes logo - You may have noticed that several months ago we removed the
NYTimes logo from the best seller lists on the front page. This logo for some reason links
to a page for developers, not patrons, so we removed it. As part of the Enterprise 4.5 CSS
changes, it is back, but we will work to remove it again on Thursday November 19.
* eResource Central - Some of the changes to eResource Central, including renaming
Digital Catalog to Downloadable eBooks and eAudiobooks, or the addition of the vendor
facet may not be complete first thing in the morning on Thursday, November 19. These
changes must be done one by one for each library, and our work may extend into your
regular operating hours. This work will not require any downtime or otherwise impact the
system.
Throughout our upgrade we will send regular updates. You can check the banner on the
homepage of
support.swanlibraries.net for updates as well.
This is part of an ongoing effort to bring you the best catalog experience possible. Share
questions or comments with help(a)swanlibraries.net about how the SWAN catalog is working
for you and your discovery process.
