Reminder: Call Number Input Visual Change

Good afternoon - This is a reminder that SWAN needed to make a small change to WorkFlows with respect to the input of call numbers. Previously, the call number input field was Caps Locked to allow only the input of upper case letters. In order to implement the mixed-case call number functionality required for certain new classification scheme options, the input box is no longer locked into upper case, but will accept lower case letters. However, the existing classification policies (LC, DEWEY, LCPER) are still configured as upper case-only. So when you save a call number using these policies, the call number you typed will convert to upper case: [cid:image001.png@01D3BAE0.18E9C310] So the existing classification schemes are still locked into upper case. The lock is simply happening at a different point in the process. Therefore it is still not necessary to hold Shift or use the Caps Lock key to input call numbers. Please note that this change has also caused all instances of "|Z" to convert to "|z" across all classification schemes. This is a visual change only and has no effect on the treatment of call number analytics. 2018 SWANstravaganza Conference - Planning Committee

Hello all, We have just begun to very preliminarily plan this year's SWAN User Group Conference, which will be held on Friday, August 17th at Moraine Valley Business Center (same place as last year). I would love to enlist a few interested folks from the membership to help with planning the event this year via a Planning Committee. The intentions for this group will be to solicit feedback and pick your brains to help us plan this year's event theme and topics, speakers and sessions that you'd like to see, potential sponsors for the event, and other ideas that you might have for us. Since we all have a lot on our plate right now with the upcoming migration, my plan will be to make this group as non-invasive as possible in terms of being a drain on your time. We will plan one, possibly two in-person meetings (likely at SWAN HQ in Westmont) but otherwise hold our communication all online and via email. I anticipate getting our conversations going in late March/early April depending upon availability. If you are interested in being on the Planning Committee, please email me to let me know. New 19 Migration Q&A Session 3 Packet

Current and Future SWAN Libraries- The third (of four) New 19 Migration Q&A session is Wednesday morning at RAILS Burr Ridge, from 9:30-12:30.
