Scholastic errors

Hello, Scholastic databases are not working properly with the Open Athens proxy for off-site access. Scholastic and Open Athens are working to solve the issue. The problem is with Scholastic URLs. I've been working with both of these vendors to get the problem solved. SWAN Directors' and Administrators' Quarterly Meeting Agenda & Packet for 12/5 Posted

SWAN Member Libraries, The December Quarterly agenda and packet for the meeting on Thursday, December 5th at 10 a.m. in now available to you. https://support.swanlibraries.net/sites/default/files/meeting/19_12_05/6532… This is a large packet-- 180 pages! It has the report from the Clarity Task Force with our shared diagnosis related to our strategic plan objective 1. The packet also has the BLUEcloud Acquisitions Pilot report, which will be of interest to all SWAN libraries wondering what an official software pilot is like (hint: a lot of work!) and what tantalizing future we have with the new acquisitions system! Since it is the end of the year, I have included a written report on our strategic activities. Lastly, the SWAN Board will update everyone on the past few months research on converting SWAN to a 501(c)3 type not-for-profit. We have included several legal findings in the packet, which will be referenced at the meeting next week. We will live-stream the event for those that wish to join us online. The Clarity Report: a Shared Diagnosis for SWAN

SWAN Membership- I am happy to announce that the SWAN Clarity Task Force has completed its study and is now available for you. The first objective of the 5-year strategic plan for SWAN was to determine precisely where the dissatisfaction with the staff interface (WorkFlows) and the patron interface (Enterprise) resides. The report identifies 5 areas for SWAN and its consortium of libraries to focus on solutions to improve the experience of library staff, and in turn, the library patrons we all serve. These library staff volunteered their time and helped with a great deal of research. Cataloging Advisory Group Call for Membership

During the meeting, we discussed the outlook of cataloging meetings in 2020. Part of this includes the a new format for the Cataloging Advisory Group. In 2020, the Cataloging Advisory Group will be changing into a small group of 8-10 members that will meet bi-monthly to tackle specific issues related to cataloging at SWAN. We will refine local MARC cataloging standards, establish quality controls, and reach conclusions regarding emerging formats, local library practice, and any other topics that arise. We are looking for member staff who wish to be a part of this group. While most of the group will consist of members from OCLC Cataloging Libraries, we are reserving seats for representation from Pre-Cat Libraries as well. The 2020 schedule is as follows. Concluded: Nightly Processing Delay - Please Resume Normal Operations

Although the report queue has a lot of catching up to do and likely will not be fully caught up until late this evening, the most significant of our overnight maintenance reports have concluded successfully. At the end of the report, we processed around 126,000 record changes, as compared to 15,000 on most typical nights. We'll continue to investigate why so many records were processed through the system, but in the meantime, all locked records, both patron and bibliographic, should now be resolved. Additionally, all libraries can resume normal operations, including regular cataloging.
