Hi All,
At our February board meeting, I asked the board to review the SWAN bylaws and come to the March 17th meeting with a list of what bylaws they think should be reviewed and perhaps revised.
We will review the list at the March board meeting and then decide who will conduct the review. I want to take our time with this to do a thorough job.
I am going to mention this at the March Quarterly meeting and will be asking the membership if YOU feel it is appropriate, to review the bylaws and make suggestions to me as well. If you feel this is inappropriate, please write me back (not all) and let me know, otherwise I will take email silence as a "GO!"
Thanks for your help and here's to a good weekend.

SWAN Board,
I wanted to provide you all a quick preview of the SWAN FY18 budget as I am finalizing the Quarterly agenda and budget presentation.
Rather than insert all of the RAILS grant and migration expenses within the FY18 budget already presented, I thought it would be better to separate it. I included notes on the budget to explain the migration portion. I think you will see some good news on the revenue side of things. Sharon recommended that the Impact Fee $95,000 revenue be included on that new line #4050.
If you have questions, comments, suggestions, please shoot me an email. I am still working from home recovering from a terrible cold.

SWAN Board,
A quick note regarding the budget. After the SWAN Board meeting on Friday I had the sudden realization that all of the migration expenses for adding the new 19 libraries would occur within the FY18 budget. The RAILS grant revenue too would also be recorded in FY18.
What I am finishing up is the FY18 budget but adding a column exclusively for the migration expenses and grant revenue. The expenses will offset with the revenue, but there is also the likelihood that the SirsiDynix maintenance will go up for the May and June months of 2018. I have requested SirsiDynix finalize quotations for me so I can post the updated budget with the quarterly packet.
I came down with a bad cold over the weekend. I have been home sick so if you need to reach me and have any questions, please email me and I can arrange a time to call. Tomorrow morning I will be at the MAGIC governance meeting.

Hi All,
I want to thank you for a great board meeting today. I appreciate your insight and willingness to openly discuss at times heavy topics. I feel that we have a great board and I want to thank all of you for making it that way.
For those of you who were unable to attend, Jim Deiters announced that he will be resigning his position on the board effective June 30, 2017. Jim felt that the time was right for him and that it would allow the board to get back to a regular cycle of board elections.
I hope all of you have a great weekend and as a reminder for all of us, please be sure to notify Aaron, Brande and me if you are unable to make a meeting.
Enjoy the weather!!

Hi All,
Attached is a list of feedback from the last COW and Quarterly meetings. Please bring a copy to the meeting tomorrow. It is my fault that it wasn't included in the packet.
See you in the morning.

SWAN Board Members:
The Friday, February 17th board meeting packet is now available for you:
https://support.swanlibraries.net/sites/default/files/meeting/2017-02-17/pa…
The packet is 54 pages long. This month we will have our final pre-vote budget review, a review of SWAN committees, and discussion regarding payment of SWAN bills and check signing. We also have our yearly SWAN bylaws review; rather than include the entire bylaws document again in the board packet, you can find our most up to date version here: https://support.swanlibraries.net/sites/default/files/gov/SWAN%20By-Laws%20…
We hope to conclude the meeting by lunch time, so we do not anticipate providing lunch at the meeting. If anything changes I can always call in an order if needed.
See you on Friday!

Hello SWAN Board:
I am working with facilitator Kathryn Deiss to find a day for our SWAN Board retreat, as mentioned at last month's meeting. She is largely booked up in March but I've put together a Doodle poll with dates that work with her and Aaron's schedule. This would be held at Quail Ridge, and the meeting would likely run 9am-3pm with meals served.
Please respond to the poll when you get a chance and I will send out a meeting invite once we have everything firmed up:

SWAN Board,
I have completed the budget using the feedback provided at the January SWAN Board meeting, including:
* Various suggested edits to the budget narrative, including some background in staffing
* Personnel lines only including the two new positions
* Adjusted the health insurance expenses based on recently completed payroll and two new positions
* Updated capital expenditures worksheet
The SWAN fees section was not included in the SWAN Board packet last month. I have included it for this packet. I intend to post this packet tomorrow, 2/1 and share the meeting agenda and packet via SWANcom.
I apologize if this feels a bit last minute and you wanted to review it longer. If you can provide me any feedback before noon tomorrow I can work it into the final version for the COW.
