Cataloging Advisory/Serials Users - Joint Meeting Aug 23rd

07/27/2018 - 12:49 - by Dawne Tortorella

The Cataloging Advisory meeting scheduled for August 23rd at RAILS will start at 9:30 AM instead of 10:00 AM.  This is to accommodate a joint-discussion with the Serials Users Group.  This announcement serves as invitation to the Serials User Group members to attend this August Cataloging meeting [please register via L2].

The purpose of the joint meeting is to discuss MARC holdings, serials data cleanup, prediction, and call number structure. These topics are driven by a desire to improve the patron experience in searching for these items and placing holds, and were introduced at the last Cataloging Advisory meeting.  We will be answering questions and reaching a final decision regarding proposed changes to call number analytics (volume information) for serials. If we decide to move forward with a change, we will also discuss a transition plan and timeline.

A full agenda and supplemental materials for the meeting will be posted by the Friday before the meeting. See Meeting Documents for these resources and past agenda/minutes/packets.
