Survey - OPAC Inactive Logout Period

Prior to the Enterprise 5.0.1 upgrade, internal Enterprise profiles could be set to automatically logout users after a specified period of inactivity. This feature ensured that patrons don't stay logged into OPAC kiosk computers. In the upgrade, this logout period was set to 15 minutes, and some libraries reported issues with patrons remaining logged in on their OPAC kiosks.

Rudy Host has a developed a script that will restore this functionality for internal profiles, and SWAN plans to apply it to all internal profiles. We want to know what time period works best for your OPAC kiosks!

Please place your vote by the end of day Thursday, March 5th. The time with the highest vote will be standardly applied to all internal Enterprise profiles.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • This setting would just apply to internal profiles, which have a URL that ends in "-in", e.g. catalog.swanlibraries.net/client/xxx-in
  • This setting just applies to inactivity on the screen, not the time from when the user logged in.
    • For example, if you select 2 minutes, that means a user would be logged out after 2 minutes of not moving the mouse or clicking, and the 2 minute timer would reset if the patron moves the mouse or clicks.
