The BLUEcloud Mobile app is set to go live next
week. Due to the process of submitting apps to the app stores, we can't give
you an exact go live date.
SirsiDynix will submit the app to the Google Play and Apple App Stores,
and it could take a few days for the apps to be approved and appear in the
app stores. Likely, the app will be live for Android devices before it is
live for iOS devices.
When the app is live in both stores, SWAN will send an update to let you
know the app is live and ready for you to share with your patrons.
If you have additional questions, please view the
BLUEcloud Mobile App documentation or contact help@swanlibraries.net.
Testing update
Thank you so much to all of the libraries that tested! Here are some of
the frequently cited bugs and suggestions for improvement that you
identified. We've submitted a testing report to SirsiDynix to address these
issues in future versions of the app.
Bugs
- Barcode scanning issues - please check if your
barcode scanners are compatible with barcode images
- Summaries and enhanced content from Syndetics only displays on items in
the main SWAN app, and they are not appearing in the individual library
apps.
- If a user tries to add a profile picture, the photo does not save and
display.
- Nearest library locations show slightly different distances if a user is
logged in vs. not logged into the app
- Various slowness and loading issues (these may be fixed when we go to the
live version of the app)
Suggestions for improvements
- If you put in the wrong PIN, you get a “cannot connect to server at
this time” message. Should be something like “Incorrect PIN
entered.”
- In Enterprise, the home library’s items “bubble up” to the top of
the item availability information in the detail display. Libraries would like
the app to work the same way.
- It is hard to differentiate physical item formats from digital formats
when scrolling through search results
- It isn't obvious where to find search filters for Title, Author, Subject,
etc.
- If possible, offer the option to select multiple items in Checkouts or
Holds, so patrons can renew multiple items or suspend multiple holds at
once.
- The calendar for suspending holds has weeks listed Monday through
Sunday. Typical US calendars list Sun-Sat., can this be changed?
Thanks again for testing, and stay tuned for more updates coming
soon.
