RAILS/SWAN Planned Network Outage on Wed, Jan 25th from 5am-6am

01/18/2017 - 15:03 - by Steven Schlewitt

SWAN Member Libraries & Information Technology Staff:

RAILS IT has informed us of an upcoming scheduled network upgrade of the RAILS/SWAN Data Center, which will require a brief outage and downtime before standard business hours. This outage has been scheduled between 5am-6am on Wednesday, January 25th. With the early window of this outage, RAILS IT is aiming to avoid disruption of any staff, but please be prepared in the event that SWAN is offline first thing in the morning on the 25th. Additionally, patrons accessing the Enterprise catalog or E-Books during that time will be affected.

The following services will be impacted during the outage:

-      Symphony Server

  • All WorkFlows access (cataloging, circulation, etc)
  • SIP2 3rd Party Vendor Integration (databases, electronic media)
  • SIP2 Hardware/Software Integration (AMH, self-check, PC reservation, print release)

-      Enterprise

  • My Account Features
  • Commerce
  • Item Availability

-      Bookmyne

-      MobileCirc

Again, this outage is planned between 5am-6am, so it should not affect libraries during normal operating hours. If the outage happens to spill over into standard operating hours, all transactions must be performed with WorkFlows in Offline Mode.

If you have any questions regarding the outage, please email us at help@swanlibraries.net.

Thank you.
