I wanted to update everyone on the ongoing instability issues with Enterprise.
We continue to work with SirsiDynix software engineers and hosting support staff on the stability issues that arose in July. The software fixes for these issues require SirsiDynix’s Enterprise software developers to create a patch (or multiple
patches) for Enterprise 5.0 for all customers. Unfotunately SWAN has been hit hard by this bug. Until these software fixes are written by SirsiDynix, we have taken the following steps:
The issues are specific to Tomcat memory, which results in these brief 5-10 minute outages being random. Due to this, *we ask that library staff wait 15 minutes after you first notice the catalog being unresponsive before calling SWAN
or submitting a support ticket.* The truth is we are alerted immediately and probably know it is happening before you do. We will only send out a SWANcom should the Enterprise outage last longer than 15 minutes.
