SWAN Libraries—
Join the SWAN Discovery and User Experience (DUX) group for a morning of Enterprise-centric learning and discussion. Do you have questions about searching in Enterprise vs. searching in Workflows? What about the mysterious "Rooms" training you've heard whispers about? Perhaps you want to know more about how Enterprise works and what happens when it goes down?
Well, you're in luck: DUX has quacked the code, and we're sharing the secrets of Enterprise with SWAN libraries, both old and new. Event is free and refreshments will be provided! Registration is handled through L2. The event will kick off at 9:00am on April 6th in Burr Ridge and will conclude with a guided Enterprise discussion from 12:00–1:00pm. Presentation descriptions are below:
Searching Enterprise vs Workflows - Let’s be real: Enterprise isn’t perfect and sometimes searching in Workflows is more trouble than it’s worth. Knowing when to use which tool can seriously streamline your search process and allow you to find the right items for your patrons quickly and efficiently. DUX will walk you through the differences, similarities, and best practices for both search tools.
Rooms Overview - What does Tommy Wiseau’s unbridled cinematic masterpiece have to do with Enterprise? Absolutely nothing! Instead, this presentation will show you all the cool things you can do with Enterprise Rooms and will serve as a preview of more in-depth training at the annual SWANstravaganza in August.
How to Write a Standout Trouble Ticket - Writing to the SWAN Help Desk can seem like a daunting task. Your problem is urgent and you need results ASAP, but you’re afraid SWAN staff won’t see your ticket right away and it will get lost in the shuffle. This presentation will walk you through how to effectively communicate the issue you’re experiencing so SWAN staff can respond quickly and efficiently.
EDS, EBSCOadmin, and OpenAthens,Oh My! - EDS has been in the works for a while, and now that it’s available, you want to know exactly how it works and what control you have before your library opts in. What is OpenAthens, anyway? It’s a jungle out there, but DUX is your yellow brick road!
How Stuff Works: Enterprise Edition - Enterprise has a tough job. Not only does it have to match up relevant search information with the right item, it has to look good while doing it. This presentation will cover the guts of Enterprise and how it pulls relevant information into a functional interface for patrons.
A Day in the Life of an Enterprise Outage - Enterprise is down! You’ve submitted a ticket and SWAN knows about the issue. You get back to work and 20 minutes later you receive a SWANcom saying Enterprise is back up and running. But what sort of wizardry did SWAN IT and SirsiDynix use to correct the issue?
