SWAN Member Library Staff:
We are continuing to see problems with our overnight Enterprise Catalog harvest tasks.
We are investigating this issue alongside SirsiDynix to determine the cause of the harvest failures.
As a reminder, this issue only affects new and updated titles/records as they appear in the Enterprise catalog. This does not affect Enterprise item availability, patron account data, or access to the My Account functions, nor does it impact any functions of Symphony/WorkFlows.
Thank your for your patience.
SWAN Member Library Staff:
As you may recall, we had previously encountered intermittent issues with the Enterprise Catalog harvests, which prevented newly cataloged items or updated catalog data from syncing to Enterprise from our Symphony server through either the full overnight harvest or the hourly delta harvests.
Over several weeks of trial and error and escalation through SirsiDynix support, we determined that the issue was relating to the process by which SWAN’s eRC harvest schedule intersects with the standard harvests. At that time, SirsiDynix determined that our best option was to migrate to a higher performance Enterprise Software as a Service (SaaS) server that could better accommodate our rigorous harvest schedule.
While the migration to a new server seems to have succeeded in making our Enterprise catalog more snappy and responsive to searching and user interactions, we unfortunately have not seen an improvement to the harvest schedule. This is the reason that our Enterprise catalog is currently a few days behind on catalog data.
Moving forward, our initial goal is to resume the full harvest schedule, which we hope to have resolved with this evening’s harvest. That means tomorrow’s Enterprise data should be current to any changes made today. Following that, we’ll continue to pursue a resolution for our delta harvests through SirsiDynix’s support team.
As a reminder, this issue only affects new and updated titles/records as they appear in the Enterprise catalog. This does not affect Enterprise item availability, patron account data, or access to the My Account functions, nor does it impact any functions of Symphony/WorkFlows.
Thank you for you continued patience as we seek resolution to this issue.
